my sons 9yr old best friend was hit by car this evening while riding up the street on his dirt bike. he was taken to the hospital and we are waiting word on his condition. his parents bought he and his brother the bike but did not invest in a helmet. Not such a good idea is it? but anyway, before ew was even in the ambulance the older folks in the neighborhood were complaining about him flying up and down the street on the bike (its a 50cc pantera 3 speed with a broken shifter it only goes 15 mph, I just paced it on the gs a few days ago). these are the same people that drive their cars 35-45mph thru a residential street posted 25. what a bunch of crap!!
Ugh....sorry to hear. :(:(:( Whenever I hear stories of children being injured, I can't help but put myself in the shoes of the parents, and they're terrible shoes to be in. I hope he pulls through ok, and I hope a helmet is in his future.
My heart goes out to your son, too. What a terrible trauma for him. :(
Aw, man. :( Best wishes for his health.
I used to ride a 50cc dirt bike when I was smaller. It would have hurt me to get hit by a car which is four times as big. We should all pray for this kid.
thelittle boys mom called last night, he has a broken rib, collapsed lung, sprained wrist, nd a large knot on his head. e regained conciousness about 11:00 and is being kept for at the hospital for the time being. they dont believe there is any brain.
$10 says that the family blames/sues the driver of the car.
:( That's just awful to hear. I can't imagine how hard that would be for an adult, let alone a little kid. Best wishes on the recovery for all involved.
Oh... sad ... people fly down my street all the time, the worst are the UPS/fed ex drivers and school buses ... yea ... empty but still ...
Cool.
Srinath.
his mom just called, they removed him from ICU this morning, they say if he keeps improving he may be home tomorrow. banged up, broken and sore but at least he'll be home.
What a relief. It sounds as if he's a VERY lucky little boy. Now about that helmet....
I feel sorry for the kid, his parents need to be beat with a hose. I hope they realize it their fault and take some responsability for letting their 9 year old do something stupid, illegal, and dangerous.

Yes and no, remember he is only 9 (i can joke now that he is doing better)
Babys bounce good, kids bounce well, teens thud, adults crack, Oldtimers crumble
(no offence ment to any, just an observation)
see, i also have to wonder why wasnt there atleast a helmet on the kid and an adult watching over him. im on my son while he is on a bicycle, let alone anything motorized.
