You cannot make a poll in the GD forum, only in the OE. I have been told it was not needed.
A stock, pristine, unmolested '89 GS spends entirely too much time in my garage. It's so clean and so stock that the un-cognoscenti think that it's a new bike
Cernunos has The White Owl. The White Owl was born in '89 and it is supposed to be one of the finer examples. I've never seen a photo, but maybe C will oblige??????
I have one

Not me ... atleast not at the persent time, but I'd like to stand in for the non netted up dude that bought my long standing 48K mile 89 ... and yea drifter8899 bought another 89 from moi ...
Cool.
Srinath.
1989 Here that went under the knife..... a little bit of nip and tuck has her looking like a flashy '04 with black motor and white wheels

Man, I almost bought an '89, but it wasn't in very good condition. I'd absolutely LOVE one of the black '89s with the red and white pinstriping. Those things were absolutely gorgeous.

I think it looks better than new 04 or 05 GS'es ... the 05 tail is blue but the fairing has a lot more white - as in the mids and lowers are white ... the 04 has the white tail, and a black front fender with flat black frame and wheels ... that blue front fender and the older frame are much better as are the white wheels against the blue and white ... In fact the white front fender off that bike was better than black ... :x
but that pic is cool ... I need it for the wif ... send more if you can ...
Cool.
Srinath.
OK thinking of updating my 2000 lately TarzanBoy did you need to use a oil cooler in that upgrade? :dunno:
What size tire is that Tarzaboy?
Tarzanboy,
Nice ride! :thumb:
Stock 89.... 8)
The upgrade was performed by Srinath (fabrication, flanges, welds, brackets, spare pieces), and polished by cheesy (instrumentation, flush mounts, spring upgrades, maintenance, etc).
To my knowledge, no oil cooler was added.
You're in for a heck of a project if you're going to add (= welding) the brackets for the fairings.... I think the other pieces should fit without as much hassle. Srinath will tell you how he did it.
Srinath, I will take some photos for you today, provided that my camera still works (i dropped it)
-EDIT-
The tire on the back is a 140. Its not the same exact tire as in the following pic, but its the same size

That might actually be the first white GS I've seen.
I really like the way the bike looks with no front fender.
Is there much of a downside to takeing it off?
But I kind of like the front fender too.
I'm another '89 owner. Bought it off a woman who works at a Suzuki dealership for $200. I put a few hundred in it and it purrs like a kitty now, even with 52+ K miles on it. Thanks to people here who have helped me replace parts that were just worn out. And mine is green... If I find some webspace I will post photos, including of the weird eyes on the front of the tank (copied from a Tibeten temple, with the 'nose' upside down....).
only downside to having the fender off is you get a nice rooster tail that gives you a muddy stripe if the road is wet.
nice to see all the 89's out there!
so i have a 'white owl', huh?

Most people would agree that you have a white owl, to honor Cernunos.
And most people would also agree that the '89 is the best year for the GS.
Looks like the one rotting away in my parking garage...
That reminds me...
Pearl black, 37K miles, dirty, and a peeling tank. Otherwise the best factory color and graphics on a GS. Evar. ;)
Cheers,
e.

Tab,
How did you get a pic of my bike?
Oh, that's not my bike, my rear wheel is cleaner than that!
Anyway, it's nice to see that some of these bikes stayed the way the factory put them together. I do have to admit, though, that some of the customizing that I've seen is x-tremely nice.

actually my front wheel fender has been replaced with black not the stock white. she isn't in that great of shape - clear coat is starting to peel among other things but she still runs!
Ed89 -- love your 89!! would suit me as i have red/black leathers:
Tab,
On closer inspection, I now notice the black front fender. Also, I see that your bike no longer sports the side marker reflectors (no doubt removed to save weight  ).
The last pic you posted is really neat. From the looks of the compressed fork, it appears that you've got a bit of speed going there.? :thumb:
