Title: Removing carb screws?
Post by: blue05twin on September 20, 2005, 07:43:50 PM
I removed the carb but am haveing a hard time with the little screws on the bottom.  Do they make a tool to remove them?  They are on so tight it's unreal.  Any help or tips would be appreciated.
thanks

If you don't mind changing them to standard, I have taken a dremmel tool, and cut a slot into the top, across the phillips slot. Then you can use a standard slot screwdriver.

I backed mine out with some vise-grips and replaced them with stainless hex cap bolts.

OK slow down there tiger ... those are 4mm in the 01+ ... 4mm by 12 I believe and no vise grips and no nothing ... May cut slot and get it off, but I have had immense trouble with these ... they are freaking small ... I have drilled out these but I dont feel comfortabe doing anyhting to them ...

Also, you can use an impact driver to break the screws loose. Make sure you have the opposite side of the screw supported before hitting the driver.
