32.  IS WRONG!!!   For those of you who were TRUE He-Man/She-Ra fans you'd know that they were TWINS, meaning brother and sister.  Jeez didn't anyone else watch that movie when they got to stay home sick from school?

There was Pencil Fights, where you'd try to see who could break the other dude's pencil.  I actually remember there being a pencil fight champion at my school.

And another thing: what is the deal with having to bring a box of Kleenex to school on the first day?

Like, oh m'gawd! How could this list be complete without reference to:

* White linen suits, pastel tee's, no socks. (even if it's 20 degrees out)
* AquaNet (from the industrial size cans, of course)
* Crimping iron tragedies
* One word:  legwarmers (or is that two words?)
* Trapper Keepers
* Blue eye shadow (usually with bad crimp jobs)

Fer sure!

"Slap Wrap" bracelets until they were banned for cutting kid's wrists (so they said).

What were those pants everyone wore...Cavaricci's? The ankles were "tight rolled" and the pants themselves had pleats, I believe  :lol: And other clothing atrocities included Skidz..the plaid overalls look, but with the skid road sign on them..they were big in the early 90's I remember.

Do they still play "desk football" during study hall with folded paper triangles that always seemed to fly halfway across the room when you least expected it?  Ahhh...the good ol' days when we had to waste time the old fashioned way...without fancy handheld-wireless-cellular-video-game-text-messaging-camera-phones.

My B.U.M. Equipment inside out sweatshirt rarely came off.  I still remember the first time I didn't tight roll.  So strange!

*climbs up the tree of trust*

Let's not get too sappy, folks.  These were the dark ages of fashion and frankly, I'm a little bitter.

So the hottest girl back in the day came to school wearing white high top L.A. Gear with like 3 shoe laces in each one, thick cable knit sock half way up her shin.  Black tights and a sweatshirt so big that is has it's own zip code.  Girls looked like California Raisins (wink, wink).

These days in high school, thongs hanging out of low rise skin tight jeans and tiny tank tops.

At risk of sounding like a perv, I'm pissed about this. I was cheated.

There.  I said it.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but the song in question is "You Give Love A Bad Name" and is from Slippery When Wet.

There is a song called "Shot Through The Heart", but it was not a huge hit and was found on their eponymous debut album. Great song, as was Runaway from the same album, but different songs.

By the way, anyone know who produced Bon Jovi's demo tape? He had a nice little hit song of his own.

I'm 25, for anyone wondering. I just like 80s music.

Z. Cavarricci, I think.  I believe they are now a discount brand, but still making jeans.  High waist, pleats, straight leg, and you'd peg the ankles ("tightrolling") so you'd look so thin at the bottom it looked like you were about to tip over.  Toss in a silk shirt, a super narrow tie, and a tight mullet or teased out mop and you've described a significant % of my high school class population.

It still makes me chuckle a little bit.

I was completely isolated from popular culture from about 1988 through sometime in the mid-90's, so I must have missed that.  I remember being surprised that MTV didn't actually play any music any more.  :dunno:

You should have stood really, really close to him, so your nose was in the back of his feathered hair.

When he turned around to glare at you, just look away and start whistling.

Yes, the title officially was "you give love a bad name", it really was done by Bon Jovi, and it was on the album called "slippery when wet".
