Title: Ninga 500 message board?
Post by: Mr.7 on September 27, 2005, 06:51:59 PM
Is there such a thing? and do they fight over whether the their bikes are better than the GS500?

If there is one, though, It isn't as good as GSTWINS.COM.
I guarentee it!

www.ex500riders.com

I was looking at a ninja for quite awhile until I ran into a more experienced rider at a bar, and he (thankfully) pointed me in the direction of the GS, and after a google search, I ended up here.. ex500rider.com has a guy named FOG (fast old guy) who is the srinath of that forum, knows everything, can fix anything on the bike... don't recall EVER seeing a gs vs. ninja post on that board, but then, I haven't checked it in months... they're not near as informative as they are here, mostly newbies asking "how do I wheelie?" or "how fast can I REALLY go on this thing?" but there are some good posts there... of course, nothing can touch the greatness of GSTwin.com!

Those guys seem like jerks...I thought it's not what you ride...it's that you ride! And actually where I am I think the GS500f is cheaper....

One of the threads was by a guy claiming to have started riding BSAs with Amal carbs.
He was complaining about how mechanically unreliable the EX was.
That is a telling complaint.

Another guy said his friend got a GS500F and it has been in the shop like 3 times or something and never been out on the road. Well, How many people here have a GS500F and have had to take it into the shop (other than for normal maintenance)? I have not had to!

Actually, I thought that was a pretty badass thread (http://www.ex500riders.com/viewtopic.php?t=4585).

QuoteThe Amals on my BSA were located directly over the Magneto and you can guess how many times I had fires. It was so often that I discovered it was better to keep on riding (in Flames) because the wind would keep the flames down away from the tank and wires till you got to a fire station or some place that had a hose or some way of putting out the fire.

Like a starting fire on a piston plane.  You crank it and hope the engine catches so the prop will blow the flames out of the cowling.

Glad I don't have those problems on my GS.  I don't go fast enough to blow out the fire.
