was pretty chilly early this morning on my way into work, but the crickets are still singing so summer is not over for me yet...

It hadn't quite made it up to 40 when I left this morning. Okay, so I probably should have put the liner in my jacket. Brrrrr.
Yep, it was 5 degrees (Celcius) when I left for work today. Got the long underwear and the heavy gloves going, but I'm hoping to ride at least until the end of October.
Jeebus, thank God someone else was feeling it. It was 42 degrees, and it was foggy so my shield kept getting foggy on both sides, so I had to ride most of the way with it flipped up. And my gloves are clearly meant for summer, as I learned today. I think I need some of those winter ones RoadsterGal has. And a liner wouldn't have cut it, but I can't fit a sweater under the leathers. So it's about time to dust off the car keys. At least until I find some new gear.
Yeesh...I'm SUCH a wuss....it's in the late 50's here, and I'm freezing my yingyang off!!!!! :? :dunno:

Warmer gloves are moving up on my "important stuff" list. Another 20 minutes or so and I probably would have had to stop and warm my hands. Other than my fingers, it wasn't so bad. Well...after I closed the vent in my jacket I had left open  ; after that it was just a little chilly. I think the jacket liner would have taken care of that, but it is supposed to get into the 70's today and I figured I'd be fine (and I was in a rush this morning...and all the standard "I was a knuclehead" excuses).

Same here. I was having a hard time cancelling my blinker once I got into my parking lot (thank God it wasn't any earlier; it's hard enough to ride when your face is numb).
I not only was planning ahead for the 70 degrees we'll see this afternoon by not wearing the liner, but I was also thinking of the sun and left the tinted visor on. It would have been hard to see out of if it wasn't so misty out and thus fogged the visor up.
Dave
Quote from: 2005-GS500-PDXbut I was also thinking of the sun and left the tinted visor on.
Tinted visor is also on the list...much lower than the gloves after this morning, but I've been finding myself riding right into the sun in both directions. :? I s'pose it won't last much longer, though. It won't be long before it's dark going both directions.
its a balmy 70 something at dawn here. of course by noon temps still peek over 100.
I'll trade ya?
Temps last few days around 105 here. Cold front will drop us to 90 later in the week

And then girls in the car next to you can't see you looking at their boobies. At red lights, of course; doing so while in motion is highly dangerous and I'd never think of doing so, even for a split second...

Wow, you have a temp gauge on your GS?
:P :)

Sure...I measure how far my testicles try to crawl up into my abdomen. That's usually a fairly accurate indicator. ;)
a tank bra will help in that area.
The end of riding season? What's that?
the last day I rode in (Wed) it was 42 degrees. That's friggin insane! My boots are warm as toast but then my thighs get cold. I always wear a sweater under my jacket in the am (then I have a friggin wardrobe of sweaters at work cause it's too warm to wear the damn things home), but my chin gets cold. It's ridiculous!
lol
Don't forget your sunblock! It's going to be a whopping 80 degrees!
From local weather:
QuoteWhat a shocker this morning when I checked the temps across New England. OUR suburbs bottomed out in the upper 30s, while parts of northern New England (Maine in particular) had readings in the low to mid 40s!
Did we monopolize the cold? Did we thumb our noses at young man autumn (AKA Old Man Winter in December, January & February)? Isn't is always "cooler to the north" this time of year?
Not always. With a clear, cool airmass, inland nooks and crannies (also known as valleys) cool quicker and lower than surrounding high spots and bigger cities. Which explains why Norwood was 37 this morning and Caribou, Maine was 40.
Lesson concluded. What about the Sox?
Clear tonight, but in a possible delay tomorrow night. Heavier rain will be moving between 5-7pm, but with a QUICK exit later in the evening, they should get the game off.
"And I feel, so much depends on the weather" (Stone Temple Pilots).
GO SOX!
Pete

That's the first time I've heard someone suggest using a bra to keep testicles warm.

Well...depends on who is wearing the bra, I s'pose. :P
Just get one of those neck warmers and shove it down your pants. :thumb:

It must never get cold in Seattle...you loonies have no idea how to actually stay warm ;)
Try
these under your riding pants.
Mmmmm....fleeecy goodness.
fleece is over rated. polypro's and goretex is all you need.
Quote from: BadgerIt must never get cold in Seattle...you loonies have no idea how to actually stay warm ;)
BAH! It's just that 50 isn't that cold here...
I snowboard, so I have enough cold weather gear to keep a mormon family warm... I don't need to break it out yet.
birkenstocks are great riding sandals. the leather strap is in the right spot just under the shifter. ya f%$king hippie

Right...50 isn't cold here either, thus:
Quote from: BadgerIt hadn't quite made it up to 40 when I left this morning.
Reports were that it was in the "upper 30's" this a.m., so it wasn't my imagination. :) I had an hour commute and checked current conditions...it had made it up to a balmy 42.
Brisk.

It in the 40's at work when I leave, gets warmer the closer to home I get. The Ocean temp is in 70's, keeps the island nice and warm.
It was around 75 this morning at 630 going to work. Yeah that with that cold front the high tomorrow is going to be 88. :thumb:

Get out of here, you duck.
;)
Been a constant ~65-75 here on the beach, I wear shorts to class every day...

Just be sure to add your safety t-shirt and flipflops when you ride! :thumb: :P
well I am late to the conversation but it has been 75-80 F here in my part of VA during the day but low 50s, even 40's sometimes at night. That is dang chilly considering I start work at 1600 and get off at 0000. Longjohns under everything and good warm wind proof gloves get the job done at night for me :). I plan to ride all winter if its not rainy or snowy so I will probably be buying more longjohns though
Safety mom-
I wear jeans to/from campus, then change to shorts. The ladies love it.
You know... 'cause jeans are SAFE!
OK... I wear 'em too. :P

Um...didn't RG just supervise some shopping? (

Soooo nice here. It was great last night, rode my ex250 for about 2 hrs.. came home.. switched out for the GS and rode for another two 1/2 hours. It will be.. most of the year round.. lows in the mid 60's highs in the high 70's low eightys. Santa Monica weather usually rocks. Ask Pantablo. :thumb:

It's much warmer today, but...
QuoteThursday: Strong T-storms 74/39
I drove in today.

I'm bigger!
Plus my CC is full. :dunno:
I experienced my first "cold" day here since early spring, late winter. It's about 80 right now.
