Hey fellow riders, I am 16 and 9 months of age and just passed my bike licence yesterday. I have a brand new 05 suzuki gs500 in yellow lined up for me in about 2-3 weeks time.....just saying hello and im happy to find a site with my bike :) well almost my bike.....is there any sydney fellas on here???
you have no idea (really) how lucky you are to have a daddy-o with cash to buy you a motorcycle that early in life.
hell, at 16 I was singing in the public transportation buses to eat dinner.
hey trust me its not just dad. He has been a big help of course...but im paying for all of it, working hard out at hoyts cinemas aswell as skool. So its not just a free run for me, but i know i am very lucky to get a bike like that at this age and i am very gratefull for it, but i have worked hard aswell...
ok not all of it but at least half
take the msf course. really.
then, once you are feeling confident (as in, after riding some 600mi), take the bike for service, and into the track!
that's where you can speed without fear of a ticket or serious consequences.

Good for you! :thumb:
Take the motorcycle safety course, or whatever they offer down under (we have some aussie members that might know more). Read a lot, and remember: If you want to stay alive on a bike in traffic you have to be CONSERVATIVE in your riding. This means no testing your limits on the road, no speeding, being constantly aware of what is going on *all* around you, and always having an escape route.
Other than that, make sure to buy some good gear. A T-shirt, shorts, and sandals don't cut the mustard. Although roadrash doesn't mean instant death, you can get *really* nasty infections that are hard to control.
Good luck, and most importantly, ENJOY! :)
Welcome!!!! Be sure to utilize the search function otherwise peeps might rip your head off!!! :) :) :)
thanks GeeP, I just done rider training corse but i might look into another one on the side. I have raced dirt bikes for 9 years so i do have some bike experience, so im not a complete noob 8) As for the gear im all sorted. I got a good leather jacket, nice alpine star boots, gloves, soon good pants and of course a helmet ;)
You're riding without pants!? :dunno:
Doesn't that get kinda breezy!? ;)

Darn, I'm not the youngest on the board anymore. Oh Well, welcome to Gstwin.com. Be careful not to become addictied to this board, it has a habbit of doing that to newbies.
Welcome to the board! These people will overwhelm you with anything you need to know, important or not. Glad you chose the GS as your first street bike; good choice!
Don't yell at me to go search, but do they make an 05 in yellow over in your neck of the woods?
And congrats.
hey leo, So i have found out that in australia we do have to 05 gs500 in yellow. If you would like to see it go to www.suzuki.com.au and have a geeeze ;)
Ohhhhhh. You're gettin' the E model! We don't get those over here anymore, so I assumed you were getting the F model. I looked at the F and was like "wtf... there isn't a yellow GS500 in Australia..." but then I realized I was being dumb and looked at the E model.

It doesn't look that bad, really... but maybe yellow isn't my color :). It looks better than the '04F without a fairing would, though. Glad you got a GS!
