Title: Headers on an E vs. an F...
Post by: Roadstergal on October 01, 2005, 04:00:42 PM
I've searched, and found references to aftermarket headers for an E possibly interfering with the fairings on an F.  My Q, though - is the stock full exhaust from E and F the same?  This isn't a fairing interference Q - this is an oil cooler intereference Q.  Do E headers route in such a way as to not whack the cooler on the F?

and if you look here, you can see that the headers on my 02 come up in the same place right below the frame cross member.

That doesn't answer the Q as to whether they're the same unit.  X5 PMed to say that the E headers will bonk the oil cooler bolts.

I TOLD you! Dork! I've got a '92 exhaust lying around in my garage, and I checked it against the '04s. I also checked it against the Yoshimura's. '92 and the Yosh were the same. Not only is the header pipe bent more so it can clear the oil cooler bolts, but the mid pipe to the muffler is larger, too.

Also...
$1062 for a freaking exhaust system on this thing?!?! Jeeze! I'd rather buy 2 full aftermarket systems for that price... Hell. I'd probably do a big bore to a 541cc engine AND get an aftermarket pipe with that type of money.
