Anyone have some free weekends before Halloween?
If you did't go to Carlise please "roll call" yourself. I think there are alot more of us this time around.
edit #1 10/23
-Me and Rich have been thinking it over...Him and I +NJ people are the extreme points of "intrest" of this "group" [no loger a GS group], but geographicaly Allentown is smack dab in the middle. So I figure we could:
Head up 512N to 80W to 81S to 78east [interstates used for general direction if we get lost we'll just call the cops  or get on the closest highway].....basicaly it's about a 120mile loop up and around PA.
I'm going to pull some resources and see what mimicks the interstate directions and then see what gets twisty and what parks and all are along the way.
It's not looking good, man. All I hear are crickets :(
If not before the riding season is over, let's tear it up next season. w00t, w00t! 8)
Bundle up and get out there!
Watch out for wet leaves...
 so, I need to put my old rearsets/brake back together, been avoiding riding on the CBR pegs cause they are a PITA on my knees
Just checkin' in wit my NE peeps! We had a hell of a time together and I want promises that we can do it again!! You guys are awesome people.
You got a promise from me Amanda :thumb:
We've got all winter to plan a good Spring/Summer '06 Meet
You all sound like the riding season is over..........we have at least another month or two. Lets still try to get together.........maybe alittle closer to the Jersey area.........
Wayne
I was thinking the same thing...Unless it's snowing I'm riding 8) well maybe w/o the shades
I should have my bike motor back together by mid next week, paint/body work the week after, a few test drives...inspection....ya make me available december 1    w/o forseen delays
Defently going to plan a trip this summer. I'm all about going up to NJ, through NY then back down through PA....or something like that.....I hear something about the last weekend in April will be beautiful *licks finger and sticks it in the air to record wind/weather information* :bs: :bs: yup
That whole amusement park Idea is still on my mind personaly....
im game for a brisk ride!
next saturday.. neone up for a ride?
give me 14more days...I've gone from frame/motor/parts everywhere to bike w/o plastic last week and should have it up and running in no time...
IN all HONESTLY let get another Carlisle thing moving some time in March 06'.......start putting in input for weekends that you already have something going on...
I was actually thinking about next season's "big gs meet" today. I was going to post up after I got some better ideas formulated, but I'll throw out what I got.
Do we want to:
a) Do another Carlisle trip. It was a big hit last year!
b) Do a more community based Meet n Greet. We could make it a camping / BBQ thing, as interest has been shown in that before. It would be cheaper than hotels and a lot more fun. We could pick a place close to an amusement park (mentioned previously), that is central to most everyone in the NE that wants to come, and of course use something like "MileByMile" to even scope out a scenic, curvy Group Ride. The possibilities are endless :thumb: . I think we need to be getting things planned atleast by Nov-Dec.
What do we all think? :dunno:
Im down for both a ride this season and next. (If you guys dont mind a noob). For the big '06 trip anything with a hotel and im game. Do any of you NE gs-ers ever go to the americade in lake george, NY? That could always be a cool '06 trip for everyone. I used to go all the time when i was a kid to check out the bikes, and im def goin next summer. I missed it this year becuase i moved to PA, and didnt get my gs till it was over. Let me know if any of you want to meet up next summer in Lake George.
if someone coordinates a day ride this fall let me know: bargovic@gmail.com
ok here's some more percise ideas:
Meet in Allentown PA [kmart, someone tell me where that is agian?]
North on rt 309 up to Hazelton PA.
SW on rt. 209
North on rt 61
Interstate 81 West till Swatana State Park
Back on 209 this time east
South on rt 895
That will put us on I-78. This is the critical time to either head West for more enjoyment or East back to Allentown
So it dosn't look like i'm pulling rt #er out of my rearend here's the map linkhttp://www.mapblast.com/(hi4qgq55mqtnjs45ygds2145)/map.aspx?L=USA&C=40.60261%2c-75.47021&A=100.33333&P=|4E5|&TI=Allentown%2c+Pennsylvania%2c+United+States

this just in from the news room---
err Bargovic your "local"
It dosn't matter noob or not...that's because were all noobs. Ya bunch of noobs with cop escorts going to a primary Harley Davidson Biker week event. :P
not to familiar with anything south of me. Im about 1 hour south of binghamton and 2 hours north of harrisburg.
yeah the amricade is mostly harleys.. but maybe 45% of the thousands of bikes are a mix of everything else.
I went to Americade this year, and have been going since a couple years back....its not really that exciting, Lake George is over-priced (about an hour from my house), but Warrensburg which is a bit north of there is fun. They have some good prices on leathers and gear but not too much in the metric bike line. Lots of twisties up here and I know the area really well. The downside, Lake George gets overrun by Goldwings and Harleys, plus they are freaking out and don't want to host it there next year. But if anyone's up for it, there always camping room in the cornfield
Quote from: Onlypastrana199Lake George gets overrun by Goldwings and Harleys..
+1 :thumb: I know a few people that go and they said it is mostly a "Goldwing thing" with a few Harley's tossed in. Not that I mind GW's or Harley's, but I don't think this is ideal for the GS community.

Party at Pastrami's House! BYOB!

True true. guess im over looking all the goldwings cause my friends that go all ride sport bikes, but they are the minority. Plus im partial to the area. Ticondaroga and bolton landing are the place to go for all the twistys! and in ti its def not over crowded. (except for the hippies).

Ticonderoga is alot of fun, its more fun to loop from my house, up into Vermont up Bear Mountain and into the Green Mountains and then cut back over and come back down through there. I went on many many many trips up that way during the summer.
ooo camping. im in for sure. lets head north. i like it up there. a 2 day trip would be fun

Yup, I am familiar with the roads you mentioned... been on most of them often.
Meet in Allentown PA [kmart, someone tell me where that is agian?]
KMART: 4701 West Tilghman Street, Allentown, PA 18104 (MAPQUEST IT)
North on rt 309 up to Hazelton PA. (I live very close to 309.)
SW on rt. 209 (Takes you to Beltzville Lake... some of us have been there before.) ;)
North on rt 61 (Cabelas is on 61... not the best road to ride on though, but it takes you to 895 which is a really fun road to ride.)
Interstate 81 West till Swatana State Park (Never been to this park but sounds like a good idea. I'm sure we could find it.)
Back on 209 this time east (I know a few different ways "home" (back to Allentown) from 209. For those that don't want to go back to 895, the Turnpike is in Lehighton, off 209, depending where people want to go. (If they want to head home or not for anyone from the North.)
South on rt 895
That will put us on I-78.

Who me?? :dunno: Last time I tried to organize this, it didn't work out to well, lol. Hershey Park is only about 45 min. to an hour from me. There's also Dorney Park (in Allentown) here. Depends where everyone wants to ride to... there's Great Adventure in NJ too. Doesn't matter to me where we go... as long as we go this time. ;)

Quote from: weaselnozenext saturday.. neone up for a ride?
Hey, Where in PA are you? Im in Towson, MD. I rode up to York, PA through the Prettyboy Falls area last sunday. I'd be game for a ride this saturday morning. I cant make a all day-er out of it because i gotta be back home around 4pm to work at 5. If you wanted to come down my way, we could head over into some of the resivours west of I-83, inbetween Towson, MD and York, PA. Lemme know if you're interested. This goes for anyone else in the area too.
As for future rides, Im game. Just let me know what's going on and i'll try to plan accordingly. I know Jace will like to see his former bike logging some miles ;)
hey hey Bryan.
*sniff sniff* ya I sort of miss the old GS but she's in good hands. I take it not troubles other than the gas incident... :thumb: wow up to York PA is just past my house...Give or take. but ya as soon as I get my bike all back together I'lll be out riding every weekend if it's not snowing. Are you at Towson State University? Cool beans if you get up this way again I highly recomend rt.64 and 77 up through Thurmont/emmitsburg through Cunningham State Park. The longest section of straight roads is about 8ft. :P
LadyJules31-
I was just kidding about that...unless you want. I personaly have never ventured past Harrisonburg. So it's all good to me. I'm for any adventure park, camping, or making this a 2-3 day trip:) Or going all the way up to New York.

Yea Im at Towson University. No other problems other than someone tipping it over while it was parked on campus :x It broke the bar end off so i've gotta get a new one. I need to get some new gear before i venture too much further than i have. My hands and legs got rather cold after a couple hours.
I am up for practically anything. A 2 day camping / group ride would be excellent, I am still working on some ideas I'll post later to throw out to the community. I am also up for helping organize and do what needs to be done to help make this a possibility :thumb: . 8)
A two day tour with outdoor camping? Count me in. 8)
I vote 3 days/2 nights for camping b/c we only spent two days together last time and it went way too fast! I think I even cried a little in my helmet on the way home.
Something in May could work, no more college and some warmer weather, but not too hot..just my two cents. I call the sleeping bag next to weaze!!!

WHAT ABOUT....HERSHEY + CAMPING????? Amusement park all day and camping at night DUH.
Now are there any camp sites near Hershey? There must be, even if its a crappy place we can have fun anywhere. If we could have fun in Twins bar, we can have fun in the middle of the woods getting stupid. Right guys?

+1 for the camping/amusement/group ride to be combined.
Camping: Let's pick a campsite that our sites will all be relatively close to eachother, and maybe if we register in advance as a group, we can get a discount. :dunno: And a site with some kind amenities would be nice. It might be worth seeing if the site has small cabin rentals for those that do not want to camp / do not want to carry the tent but still want to participate in the ride and park visit. Anyone agree?
Amusement Park: Hershey? Dorney? Anyone got preferences? I'll do either, or, or neither. I am in it more for the camping, meet n' greet, and group ride :thumb:
Group Ride: The tour is going to have to be up to someone else, this is one part I can't help with much. I don't really know the area. I think Jace did a great job, but anyone else care to add some input to add? A completely different one? Obvously, it will have to be in a circular formation and lead us to and from the campsite. :thumb:
EDIT:We've got a rough idea of "what", let's get a rough idea of "when".
Fri/Sat, Sat/Sun, or Fri-Sun
a) May 27th - 30th
b) June 10th - 12th
c) July 8th - 10th

Ha...all of those fall on important family members' birthdays...and a wedding(of which I'm the maid of honor so no skipping that)...the only possibility in there for me would maybe be choice b. But no promises...(even though I promised you Rich)
Quote from: Onlypastrana199But no promises...(even though I promised you Rich)
I wasn't asking you to come, I was telling you :P This is not a "Pastrami-optional" meet.
B&C are good
I'm a bridesmaid in a wedding this June as well, but I'm not positive on the date yet.
I have to agree with Rich that I am in this more for the camping as well, so if we didn't do the amusement park thing I wouldn't be heart broken.
But anyway, like last time I am getting super-excited for this...and YAY for adding another girl to the group!!
ok carry on...
P.S. Hi Jules and Sue <33333
You both better be in this trip for the long haul no ducking out early!!

Duck where is the duck? Oh me. Not this time. I want to go back to twins pub...Was tooooo much fun

Definitely count me in!! (And I won't make ANY other plans that weekend either)
I'll look into some campgrounds near Hershey and post my findings for input. I don't really wanna do Dorney Park since it's so close to home for me, although I haven't been there in years and they do have some cool new rides/roller coasters I'd like to go on. I guess it doesn't really matter, as long as we ride and hang out. Let me know which park you all prefer and I'll find some campsites for us.
P.S.-Jace I liked your ideas... once we know which park we're going to (or none at all, lol) I will see if I can plan out a route for us using the roads you mentioned, since I'm familiar with them, if that's cool with everyone? Just let me know how far (miles) you all wanna ride.
How are we making out, Goldie Locks? Keep us posted!

try and keep it in the state parks. they're a lot cheaper
+1 on the state parks. I don't care what park it is next to, I don't even care if it by any. My main input for the park is that:
1) It is affordable enough for everyone
2) We can accomodate everyone close together
3) It is centrally located for the majority
Other than that, I say use your best judgement :thumb:
+1 on Rich :thumb:
I'm up for about a 1,000 mile trip. Less is ok too :thumb: or a bit more...I'm in for the long haul  either way.
Not sure where the "trip" is heading but there are GREAT roads back on Rt 30 towards Greencastle, Rt7 77 &64 which go through Cunning Ham state falls park. If we elect to do "serious mileage riding" I will call them later today after work and see about a price for two "camp" pads that are next to one another in ....shoot forgot the date already...was it May? or June?? :dunno: ...How many bikers we got again? [that are confirmed]
LadyJules

ok good news
They have the option of cabins for our "less adventurous" individuals....or a camping pad. Has a central bathroom facility w/ showers and all....They have swimming at their "lake w/ a waterfall" and other things listed on the site... $25 a nite for one "camp pad"...I'm thinking we need 2 or 3 [how many we got going again?] you can get two 4man tents on a "pad"
Just to get an idea of who is interested, let's start a non-commital interest list. Just a list saying "I am interested", but it is too early to require commitment. Who is interested?

Well if Jace is bringing his posse, why can't I bring mine?
I think you're being selfish Weaze ;)
I'd like to see as many of us as possible show up. This includes people from Virginia, Ohio, New England..all over! As far as they are willing to ride, basically. :thumb:
As for bringing people, I don't see any harm in it at all. I'll likely come solo but thats because I don't have many riding buddies around here. I think anyone that has a GS, had a GS, or that can appreciate the GS should come. Even those that don't have a GS or that are just friends of us GS'ers are part of our "extended family"
However, I think weaz has some merit and motive behind his stance with you Amanda. And being a fellow guy, I'm going to have to stand behind him on this particular situation.

lol Ok Indian Larry and your IRON CROSS! look who's talking (2) !!! HAHAHAHA
PWNED!!!!!!
the iron cross is uber cool and way better than ricer boy's skitching in rubber boots between a semi and a minivan with kids in it.
Uber cool is dancing around in ur underwear and bunny ears and modeling ur new leather jacket in front of ur webcam!
I understand that ur jealous of my gang and how we roll, but lets keep this thread about camping and worry about who's gonna sleep next to who in the tent...
Where are the rest of you guys/girls?
I've been trying to find a cheap, SMALL tent online. I wanted a "one man tent" because of how compact it would be and easy to carry on the GS, but the cheapest I could find was like $200.
I did find some military surplus "pup tents" (slighter larger than a one man tent but still pretty small) for about $30. I already have a tent but it's too big to carry on the GS.
I'll keep looking.
Julie? Jason? You two come up with ideas for a good place to go yet? :dunno:

Seriously, thats some funny shaZam! right there....
Well that was Chris on his webcam dancing around like that last night! I wasn't makin that up!!! Oh my God I laughed soooo hard...I miss you... ahhhhhhhhhhhhhh
Quote from: PhaedrusI've been trying to find a cheap, SMALL tent online.
:dunno:
We are working out details and see'ing about reservations as all the kiddy's got summer camp then in the beginning of June... :bs: but ya we have it narrowed down to like two choices from a list of 4. So were making progress.
On another note did anyone see my bike? I'm so use to my carport/picnic table being covered in parts and a bare frame up on jackstands....If the weather holds out mabe we can get a "preview the area" ride  or aleast that's my goal while the weather is still holding.
Hey Rich man backpacking tents go for like $200...look at non-backpackers as their not made out of space age carbon fiber rods and titantium this or that and don't have all of the bells and whistles....www.kmore.com has alot of camping gear from my Boy Scout years....ya well me personaly I'ma just going to tie a tarp between trees and throw down my self inflating backpackers air mattress and sleep like a log with one hand over my honey....Ya well n-e-ways no sense in covereing up in the tent ;) ....blocks out the stars ;) +it's warm outside
serious Getto-Energizer Bunny thing going on there
Beginning of June? I take it then that no one is making the pilgrimage up to Laconia (http://www.laconiamcweek.com/)? Motorcycle week is June 10-18.
Hell I'd go on a GSTWIN ride to Laconia, and we could setup camp in NH. There isn't a lot I wouldn't do, though. :P I always thought Laconia was a big cruiser fest? :dunno: If everyone would rather do something like this (Laconia, Americade, Carlisle) speak up.
Otherwise we'll just entertain ourselves on a camping trip / group ride as planned. And as some of you know, we are able to entertain ourselves quite well.
Quote from: PhaedrusI always thought Laconia was a big cruiser fest? :dunno:
Seems the majority is usually cruisers, touring bikes, and HD's, but the sportbikes show up as well...specifically because I believe the week is scheduled to coincide with the Louden Classic at NH International Speedway (the final weekend, I think). I'm pretty sure Penguin Racing School holds a track day or two during the week as well (with Vanson leathers and Ducati's available for rental).
Last year's
schedule.
I was planning on making the ride up, but it's only an hour and a half from here. :P

Mmkay anyway....so...where is the Spring '06 Meet going to be? :dunno:

It's kinda creepy realizing that this whole board will know our plans for this entire trip and could possible mess with us .....like having a state trooper pretend to be pulling us over for instance!!!!!!

Don't worry I won't be coming Rich...
I don't care if you do or not. You are more than welcome to. You're a GS'er just like everyone else. It would be good if you can. If you can't, then we will understand.
Quote from: Onlypastrana199Don't worry I won't be coming Rich...
awww thats shittty. just because u guys had an E-fight? lets act mature everyone. GSers are always welcome on our meets. from 8-80 we dont care who you are or what u bring, as long as it isnt a stunt team.. 8)
oh please Rich...make up your mind...you're mad or you're not...she said that so you would be nice to her again and say it's okay you can come...and you fell for it....
lol i hope u are being sarcastic sweetie cause theres bout to be a catfight...
Quote from: PhaedrusI don't care if you disappear forever or not. You are more than welcome to kiss our butts. You're a GS'er just like everyone else except you lied to me and that sucks. It would be crappy if you show up. If you can't, then we will enjoy our trip a lot more.
RICH! that was rough!!
damn bro i didnt see that b4. im going out on a limb here rich, i've lied to you. remember in the hotel room u said 'thank god ur not ghey cause it'd be wierd sharing a hotel room with a homo'? and i said ' hahah yea good thing im not!'. well rich, i actually am ghey. and i enjoyed watching you sleep.
No I'm really not going, I'm not looking for pity. I just wanted to put it to rest so there wouldn't be any stupid comments about shaZam!...
Enjoy your trip

Look at everyone watching our thread and posting in it!! Don't just post here...come with us!!!!!!!!
Too long of a trip for me... I always read other people's M&Gs...
Yes... I am a stalker.
i've watched u sleep on numerous occasions.
and pastrami, no ones giving u pity. i was just saying that rich doesnt speak for the group.. but whatever. we will have fun with or without
I meant I wasn't just saying that because I wanted him to be nice to me, and I realize he doesn't speak for the group, but like I said, I can't go. It has nothing to do with that. I'm sorry if I made a snide comment. I really just have other things going on during those dates. Have a ton of fun guys!
Do u have plans with aj???
I'm just confused on what's going on...ok im shutting up...its none of my business....but i'm not the only one who was asking so if u wanna tell us we'll listen
are the dates set?
pastrami, you don't have to decide today...time heals all things ;)
Hey Jetswing, maybe you'll have your boobs to show off by the time we go camping!..guess you'll have to sleep on your back. :dunno:
i'm persistentlydoing the boob exercises every night
No I said way earlier in this thread that I had stuff going on during the proposed dates, I have a 50th wedding anniversary, my lil bro's hs graduation, my mom's bday, and a wedding. Plus..summer classes cause I'm flunking outta school..
Quote from: weaselnozewell rich, i actually am ghey. and i enjoyed watching you sleep.
ghey or not ghey... you're not sleeping next to Rich on our trip. I am.
oh snap!! Jules comes outta nowhere....nice....but we all knew that already anyway hun ;)
so it will be jules-rich-chris-me------maybe Manny all side by side haha
I think you are all wacked :P
Weazelnoze - It is ok that you are ghey and liked watching me sleep. Remember that funny taste in your mouth when you woke up? That wasn't "morning breath".
Pastrami - How can you say you are busy if we don't even have an official date yet? :dunno: I have always been nice to you. Just because I get pissed off at you does not mean I don't like you, or that I don't want to hang out with you, or anything like that. I'm not a chick - I don't hold on to things forever. I've always been nice and I always will be nice, I'm just that kind of guy :)
Amanda - I dunno anything :dunno:
Julie - Hehe
Jetswing - I think you should make the ride up from VA. It would be a good road trip for you. That way, we can meet and you can give me them sought after boobs of yours  But in all seriousness, you really should come out.
Rich this really has nothing to do with that lol...if I have summer classes I'm gonna have to sublet = no money and classes and homework and working my ass off for its. Plus all the other stuff I have to do I jus really don't think I'm gonna be able to make it. I guess we'll see though, ok?
If it is a time thing, not much we can do about that I guess. If it is a money thing - don't worry about that. I'd spot you gas, food, and campsite money if that was an issue. :thumb: If you're just being a stubborn pain in the ass.......there are other ways to fix that. :nana:
hey i need a spot for gas, food, and campsite money too
OH you beat me to it Jetswing! Rich...maybe we can pretend I'm pastrami and you can spot all my expenses....and then she'll pay you back like the original plan. :thumb:
jetswing - you are going to bunk with weazelnoze. He'll "help you settle up". :P
amanda - Yeah, I'll pretend your are pastrami and you can pretend to be her. You can listen to my shaZam! on and on and on until your ears bleed. :P

Alright I have no idea what day of the week June 21 is but lets go on that for a date... :thumb: **feel free to suggest another day on a weekend**
Hah, well June 21st 2006 is a Wednesday   . However, the following weekend (Friday 23rd through Sunday 25th) might be a good idea. It is better than the weekend before the 21st since that is Father's Day, and it might be harder for some people to attend. :dunno:
How does June 23rd-25th sound to everyone? We can do our "group ride" on Saturday sometime (for those that do not want to or can't stay and camp and stuff, but do want to meet up with everyone, etc). I'll probably camp friday and saturday night, leave sometime on sunday for home.
What do we think about June 23rd-25th?
yup offical :thumb:
Word-yo
word x2
Ok, now we gotta work on a campsite :)
I was thinking about Hickory Run State Park. The URL:
http://www.dcnr.state.pa.us/stateparks/parks/hickoryrun.aspx
I think the location is almost ideal for us, I think. It is around the Hazleton / poconos area. I played around with Mapquest and found..:
Apprxomiate Distances:
2 hours fron Trenton, NJ
2 hours from Binghamton, NY
1.5 hours from Williamsport, PA
2 hours from Philadelphia, PA
1 hour from Allentown, PA
2.5 hours from New York City
2.5 hours from Baltimore, MD
Pros:
+ Central location (as stated above)
+ Organized group tenting
+ It is a state park (read: cheap, large)
+ Close to Jim Thorpe, PA (http://www.jimthorpe.org)
+ The Boulder Field (national landmark)
+ Picnic area (we can get tyhe pavillion if we reserve it in advance)
+ Swimming (with a sand beach)
+ Snackbar and general store
+ Scenic pocono region (read: assumed scenic motorcycle rides)
Cons:
- No Cabins (is this an issue for anyone or not? tents are ok with me)
- There is a no"alcoholic beverages are prohibited" policy
I compared some others i could find, such as the Ricketts Glen State Park, but they were a bit further for the NJ and MD people. Hickory Run is the most centrrally located (for the GS members that have shown interest) state park.
What do we think? Anyone got input? Yay or nay? Know of a better campsite?
looks good. it's roughly 7 hours from here but i'm gonna try to make it.
do you have any planned group activities?
also, is anyone planning to drive as a support vehicle?
Good deal, Jetswing :thumb: Isn't natedawg in the same city as you? Talk him into coming up so you have a riding buddy on the trip! The only planned group activity I know if would be a group ride; it is always fun to ride with other GS's. I am hoping we can organize something else cool to do as well; the idea of going to an amusement park has been brought up before as well. If anyone has some ideas for stuff we could do, PLEASE post up! This is everyone's job :thumb:
As an alternative (just in case the no cabin and no alcohol thing are an issue), I also found another nearby campsite about 12 miles from Hickory Run. It is called Sandy Valley Campground.
The URL: http://www.sandvalley.com/
This is a privately owned campgrounds, but they have some extra stuff that might be cool:
+ I assume alcohol is permitted
+ Cabin sites *are* available
+ Game Room / Rec Hall
+ Swimming Pool
+ Volleyball net
+ FUll service store
+ Bathrooms / Showers
+ I assume alcohol is permitted
Prices also do not look bad, comparable to state park costs. :thumb:
So what does everyone think? Hickory Run? Sandy Valley? Or Other? :dunno:
Quote from: PhaedrusGood deal, Jetswing :thumb: Isn't natedawg in the same city as you? Talk him into coming up so you have a riding buddy on the trip!
if he quit being a whore and stop working on the weekends...
so jellystone is out huh? :dunno:
Quote from: JetSwingso jellystone is out huh? :dunno:
I don't know anything about Jellystone..haha. There is one around here..but its like half an hour from me I think, northeast! None of you are going to want to come here for that... . is there another one? Is it better than the two mentioned? Like I said, I don't know that much about it, just what I researched and posted here. :dunno:
i vote for both hickory run or sandvalley. i've gone to hickory run many times and its fun! there are good hiking trails and even falls to visit. we could ride to bolder feild too. its like 5 acres of boulders left from a glacier years and years ago. the no alcohol thing sucks but whatever..
What if we camped at Sandy Valley (where they allow alcohol, have cabins, game room) and then rode to Boulder Feild to check it out? best of both worlds? :dunno: They are like 12 miles from eachother..we could totally swing that. I definitely want to see this boulder field. I was reading about it and it looks kickass:
http://www.nps.gov/nero/nnl/hickoryrun.htm
Either of them are well over 100 miles from the Twins Bar and Grill in Harrisburg, thankfully.
here are a few pictures from last time i was at hickory run. rich we can stay at sandvalley and still see all these wonderful sights! u da man..

w00t! So does everyone else agree on camping at Sandy Valley, and heading over to Hickory Run to check out the sights and what-not? Any objections or better ideas?
Otherwise, I can contact Sandy Valley since it is a private campground, and tell them we are planning a meet n' greet in their area and see if they are willing to accomodate us as a group. Maybe we could get a discount or a flat rate or something :dunno: . I'll also make sure the grounds thsmeleves are "motorcycle friendly" :thumb:
I am going to assume we'll have atleast 10 people. :thumb:
I also found an interesting site for the group ride:
http://www.motorcycleroads.us/pa.html#pm
It features some suggested motorcycle rides (specifically in the area we'll be around). Someone else is going to have to do the route for the group ride and all that..I really don't know the area, but I thought I'd toss in that link as it looks really helpful :thumb:
:o What we are not going back to Twins...... :(

I'll go for either spot....tents are best for me.
ya either/or is good for me and hardcore regular tents work just fine :thumb:
Jetswing-
which way are you comming up? I-81/95? We could meet some where down near Baltimore if that sounds like an idea. get back to me w/ a pm or e-mail Mustangmelvin5@aol.com
Bla-100miles to Twin...no problem
i'll be coming up i81...we can meet up in harrisburg, york, or lancaster... :dunno:
Quote from: JetSwing..also, is anyone planning to drive as a support vehicle?
Quote from: weazelnozeYes, I think I would really enjoy being the support vehicle. It was so much fun last time, I can't wait to do it again.
:P
u shmuck. dont u guys want me to ride this year? :x i guess crashing my bike prior to the ride is always an option..
 NO, Chris that is NOT an option. Hopefully that is not an option for ANY of us :thumb:
All razzing aside, I think we will be OK without a support vehicle. But I do think everyone should have a Plan B - roadside assistance insurance, AAA, hell..even a tool kit! :P And as we get closer (we still have a ways to go) we should all go through a checklist to make sure we (and all of our bikes) are ready. I know I'm probably going to need new tires.
Quote from: JetSwingi'll be coming up i81...we can meet up in harrisburg, york, or lancaster... :dunno:
hey ya or Hagerstown MD. that's just about 10miles from the PA state line. Then we can head over on rt.64 and up 15 into harrisburg [it's just as fast with the construction through Chambersburg on I81] and + 64/15 is alot more scenic and twisty
Maryland/Virginia/West Virginia/DC/Southern People our first roun-da-view point will be Hagerstown Maryland [zip code 21740] then York PA [harrisburg is HUGE and the likely hood of finding the other GS'ers is unlikely] so ya our trip plan is Hagerstow>York>Harrisburg>Lancaster>Allentown>Camp site> unload camping junk>>group ride
I'm going to get out my maps and Rich that link you posted and see about a group ride...will report back in a few on what I come up with. 8) I just assume the more twisty the better.....+a mix of scenic stuff and lunch stop....gas
Way to ruin it for the rest of us who haven't seen it Chris! GOD!
So what are we gonna do for food? I wanna roast weenies, marshmellows, and burgers etc. but I don't know if thats realistic since we're on bikes...and by the way, we don't need alcohol to have a good time! It's root beer in those cups guys.
maybe in your cup......mines got coke with alittle spice.
my saddle bags are supose to be able to ice and stuff.....lets roast away.
Yeah I don't think we'll have any problems with getting stuff to the campsite; we can use saddlebags, cargo nets, whatever :) And if all else fails, the campsite has a general store. :thumb:
and who said beer? we can bring the potent stuff
I think we should all skinny dip
ahem...i think these are "family" parks...
The Tequilla Bone is connected to the Skinny Dipping bone. :P
takillya....... :o

you can have Yogi....I want Booboo.
I'll take Cindy :thumb:
Phaedrus can have Mr. Ranger
Phaedrus says stop whoring a semi-productive thread :P
Okay...Just having some fun
ok...back to planning a trip...
I like these ideas of going to a park with a beach and the rock garden...It gives us a chance to just hang out with no where to be at any specific time. We can talk and relax and have lots of fun!
...Are you guys gonna wear speedos?
Mr. 7 - Pay me no mind. I am just a big fat grump. Haha.
Suzuki10 - If the guys wear speedos, then the girls gotta wear bikini's. It's only fair.
is that a dare?
[someone else wear a speedo too so I don't like the only fool]
bump it up I want u all to know...I am starting a new job ---it will now be a hell of a lot easier for me to get time off!! especially on weekends!! So, let's plan some rides.
you don't want to see me in a bikini :o
I'll just sit that one out.
oh bad thouhts....go away.... :o :o :o :o
I emailed Ed at Sandy Valley. he said he can certainly accomodate our group, and the sooner we make the reservations the better. But he did say that they will NOT be able to give us a group discount. They only give discounts to cub scouts. :P
Aren't any of you boys cub scouts? ;)
I was a Brownie troop 814 or something like that...That's sexist if they don't give a discount to the girl scouts too!!
Give me this guys number...this is horseshit!
haha ya I was a boy Scout years....ago...
probably only give discounts b/c "we always clean the site after we pack up and leave things in better condition than when we arrived." (troop master what's his name  ...give me a minute I might remember his name...)
well put me down on the reservation list
edit*nope I can't remember
ditto man. im prob closer to the campground than anyone here so if i crash my bike (again) and my car too i could always walk.. or ride Buddha Loves You on mannys bike. that thing is comfy!
you will not crash I will ride my motorcycle to all events.
This your mantra from now on..... :thumb:

After alot of vacume and wind tunned experiments I can account for a 2.4% increase wind drag from the tent sticking out into the "wind" beyond the aerodynamics of the motorcycle I then found that fuel efficency decreases 3.1% which for a standard 55mpg motorcycle it accounts for about 1.7mpg. [53.3 total consumption] and then multiplying it by the overly generaly estimated mileage from New York [250] we have a loss of 425miles or an additional consumption of 7.974gallons due to the phat azz tent sticking out the side. conclusion: 7.974X$2.00= $15.947...wow damn I just b/s like a pro and got renting a tent to be 1/2 as expensive as lugging it around. :nana:

I don't see why not! :thumb: Seems like it is more of a
Gstwin.com event than a strict GS500 event.
Hey Krateguy-hey what's up? Scary yor lesss than15miles from me :nana:

GS's -6
Yamana-1

You know you are welcome to join us any time Jeff! But given your current situation (at least from the last I know of), I can't imagine you'd be "allowed" out on this camping trip. (It would be nice to see you again though!)
Hey Amanda, Yup, I'm still going. Looking forward to seeing everyone again, and the new faces.
I'm here there a little every where. I'm right now I'm up at Frostburg State University completing my last semester. Use to live in Hagerstown but i'm also working the real estate up in Greencastle and Chambersburg [pa] because my cheap butt can't afford to live in MD....but ya
"What mama don't know won't huuurt her"
Looks like Krateguy noticed the avatar. :) If all goes according to plan I should have one of those by the time this all happens. I figure 5 years of piling miles on the GS should earn me a ticket to hand out with you guys. ;)

Nice choice! I would like to downsize my 955i for one of those. My Daytona is a bit of a bear on the tight tracks. Did you pre-order? If so, what color? My good friend Matt works for Triumph (Jules knows him also), this is him
http://www.triumph.co.uk/usa/2797.aspxe-mail him if you have any questions on the bike, he ordered one for himself too, tell him Jeff from PA sent you.
sounds like some sort of competetion is begining...

Yea, really! Actually no not that one, just the one sample in his resume to them and the first article in the monthly magazine. ;) He did hook me up a couple times this year at RAT raids though.

Yep, I pre-ordered. Tornado Red is the color, I just can't resist a red sport bike. Unless some life altering event happens between now and March-April I should have it.
Wow a "in" at Triumph, maybe a test ride? Heck... a test sit or a test see would work. :) Yep, yep... I'm buying a bike I've never seen in person, I've checked, that's the definition of crazy.

Nice! red bikes are great looking. I love that they don't crap them up with graphics too. Yea, I do get test rides. I actually help him when he needs it with the demo truck and take the groups out on test rides.....perks!
Good luck with your new bike. Awesome choice. :thumb:
Oops.....sorry about the thread jacking folks! :dunno:
Don't worry Krateguy, I am sure you will be forgiven - just be sure to come to the meet :thumb:

I'll probably make my reservations sometime in late January-early February. I like to be on top of things but I've been wicked busy and will stay wicked busy till the end of next month. :o
Havent been on this thread in a while did you guys decide on what the event is going to be for sure ? and/or the dates? I might be interested.
looks like a 1 or 2 nite camping trip at sandy valley ? well whatever it is im IN. cant wait to see all my gs buds again!
yah, whatever we do I'm in too :thumb: To summarize, it looks like we're basically doing a meet n' greet GS rally and camp - meet n' greet style. We'll likely do a group ride, head over to Hickory Run (check out the boulder field and what not?), we could probably take a ride to Jim Thorpe or somewhere cool in the area, hang out, BS a bit. Sandy Valley has some cool stuff at it too to occupy our interests when we're there. I'm hoping to stay for the two nights.
Believe me, we'll find things to do :thumb:
I hope that we have at least one night where we sit on those foldable camping chairs...sitting around a fire...with beer or water bottles...just talking, laughing, roasting weenies and marshmellows...just hanging out...
I really can not wait for this trip!
i hope amanda doesnt 'accidentally' trip into the fire pit...

*scratches his head*
o ya ya....man your gonna make me dig back through the pages to find out when right?....wait it's last weekend in June.
Ok to get the ball rolling I see on my handy map quest map that Sandy Valley is N/W of Allentown. Do I hear a Dunkin Donuts Call'n
But no seriously Are we going to do the intermitten thing with group meeting group then all meet there...or What?
I think [where u at Jet?] were going to meet some where along I-81/I-95 Up towards Baltimore Maryland [hey that's like 1hour south of Philly] Not Sure with them New Jersey people where they live in relativness to the State, but it might not be that far to meet just over on the PA line there maybe????..Now that I've wasted time typing Allentown sounds better....

you northeast folks (i'm from southeast :P) must be bored out of your mind...it's still freaking in the middle of winter and i'm still waiting for a huge snow storm so i can go snowboarding
I'm not really that bored! I don't even mind so much not being able to ride all year, it gives me a chance to do other things. When the bike is out, thats all I seem to know :P Over the winter, I can focus on things like GF, work, classes, etc.
But ya, planning is a good thing. :thumb:
Put me down as a absolute...for sure...bank on it.........um...maybe. ;) Close to that time I'll know better. :thumb:
Cool, another definite maybe. haha.
The list is mostly a gauge for interest anyway. Things can and will happen between than and now, I am sure. But we need a basic idea of who is coming and who is not, thats all =)

lansdale is southeast of allentown.. ya lets me up. the weathers been good for riding
This week, even up here in NY, has been do-able for riding on the highways. The backroads still have some icy spots and slush here and there, but the highways weren't bad. I wouldnt pull out the bike just for that though..we still got a bit of winter to get through :)
I spoke to soon for myself....
It was 58* on friday, 22* on saturday and sunday morning I had to brush the snow off my car... :icon_rolleyes: must be this new global warming thing...... it's no an El-Nino year is it? :bs:

Don't be a "pastrami" :icon_razz: The reason we planned it so far ahead was because if we didn't, others would be like "Gee, if I had known far enough ahead of time, I could have planned it into my schedule but now thats the weekend I have to groom my dog" or whatever.
I hope you make it! :thumb:

Hello all! Kinda new to the board, but if you're planning something in the eastern PA are, count me in. I live in south allentown, and have noone to ride with. That is all, you can rest now. END
eRc
Cool. There have been a couple Allentown-area rides. LadyJules is your most local that I am aware of. Keep an eye on this thread, too. We're planning a northeastern PA camping trip / meet n' greet at Sandy Valley and the area around there. We got a little side tracked but we have plenty of time to iron out the details. Hope you will join us ;) (read through the thread and you will find out the details so far!)
Bump...It's just been too long since I posted here.
Oh BIG news~I just realized that Jun 24th and 25th is my weekend OFF! That's good b/c now I just have to get off that Friday. Why aren't we meeting up Friday afternoon/evening??? Can we?? can we can we can we can we can we????????
I'll be there on that Friday, probably late afternoon to evening. :thumb:
uh ohhhh just you and me??? :icon_twisted:
:nono:
that explains the red robot's creepy smile :o
Oh please, Amanda. You're cute and all but don't flatter yourself.
What is the plan, then exactly? I know it is listed as the 23rd (fri) - 25th (sun). Is anyoen doing the 2 night thing? Just overnight? We need some clarification :thumb:
:flipoff: I like that this emoticon is called "flip off"
If we only go for 2 days 1 night it will go by too fast. Maybe we should rethink this and make it a week...or a month. Then we should video tape it and it can be like a reality show (Real World: GStwin-Pennsylvania) I <3 you guys.
do i hear crickets in here?
chirp chirp.... chirp chirp...
:icon_mrgreen:
I don't hear anything.....out of the ordinary :icon_twisted:
I hear the tumbleweeds rolling across the ground.
Hi folks,
OK, it's almost Spring here in central PA, so I think it's time to start planning our GS500 Gathering, don't you?
I want to meet you all, or most of you anyway. :)
Let's get together for breakfast, go for a great ride and enjoy the day.
A ride from Lancaster north to Shamokin, where there'a a great lunch place called American Grill (I think that's its name)?
A ride to the PA Grand Canyon together over a weekend?
Let's hear some ideas and make commitments.
Yours,
Todd
Todd - are you planning on coming to the "big meet" in June? I hope so!
Hi there,
Is the June 24-25 trip being planned for the state park or for the nearby private campground?
I'm not sure from all the posts which was chosen. :)
This is still up near Hazelton, right?
I would love to go!
I'd prefer the campground and the cabins, though, if it's still being decided upon. I'm a city boy. :)
Ket me know,
Thanks,
Todd
Yeah, it is in that vacinity, and I am putting together a cleaner, more compiled blob of information about the trip as we speak :thumb: We got bored over the winter and a lot of the info got lost in our chatty-ness..haha. But I am cleaning it up now and am going to start another thread with pertienent, working information.
Ok, check it out:

It is a cleaner, more organized (so far, haha) and might help attract some more people who might otherwise miss it if they have to read through 20+ pages :icon_razz: We can post details over there and really work at making this a success :thumb:
good idea Rich...21pages was getting.......what's the word.....excessive :dunno_white:
oh yeah..20 was alright, but 21 is pushing it.
Countdown=107 days.
Do I hear 22???
Going once...
Going twice...
Someone help me out here... lol. :icon_razz:
Wow, I never thought of Julie as a post whore but anything is possible
here's to 22  and one to get started on 23
