Hello everyone ! I have used this nice forum for pretty long time , just didnt feel the need to register yet :P
I have 2005 Suzuki GS500F as my darling. Got the sickness of modding now :D So i have some questions :
1) Yoshimura race exhaust is the best , right ? but which one fits to gs500f ? RS-3 Oval Exhaust System ? and is that true that there are some problems with fitting that yoshi to "F" model ?
2) yoshi online store is down ( or im blind , cant see info about that exaust anywhere ) so how much it costs ?
3) if i make my front suspension more stiffer and lower it (because in my opinion its too high , looks weird , like it would need a bigger front wheel :P ) few centimeters , would it do something bad for the bike ? e.g. it wount manouver so good anymore
4) what is K&N pod filter ? what that "pod" means ? and is that the right filter? http://www.knfilters.com/search/product.aspx?Prod=SU-5589
5) why i need to buy jetting kit or what it helps? im not very smart in 4stroke engines. i know that in 2stroke bikes u can change jetting by just adjusting stuff in carburator and dont need to buy anything .

Yoshimura discontinued their exhaust system for the GS in 1998. It will not fit your bike, as it didn't fit mine. Not only would you have fairing issues, you couldn't even get it INSTALLED because it would hit the bolts holding the oil cooler lines on. Even if you stripped the fairing off, as I did, you still couldn't get it to fit.
Jetting changes the air/fuel mixture and removes odd power pulses. It smoothes out the power and torque curves making a much more enjoyable ride.
You can do a search and find all that information.
1 basically any exhaust will fit
2 yoshi does not make a exhaust for the GS500F but you can get any exhaust to fit
3 not sure about the bigger wheel but you can make the front susupension stiffer with either homemade pre-loads or buying progressive springs

5 GS500 comes lean from factory after added filter and exhaust you will need to rejet or you will be running really lean.

It's true you can, but you've got to be willin to put in a shaZam! LOAD of time and effort. Honestly though, there was no way that the Yoshimura I had was going to be able to fit on my bike. Period. The oil cooler is a very very annoying thing right now.
Someone clarify:
are you guys talking about the bolt-on muffler (bolted to srinaths flange) when you say any exhaust will fit? Thats what it sounds like.
V&H is the only current US available full exhaust system but I dont know if it will fit the F.
+1 on the rejetting issue. we're all assuming you're in USA though. Euro bikes are already jetted better than USA. Same as 2 strokes except you only need to do it once for the setup and its done. You dont have to buy a jet kit, you can buy the individual jets instead.
front feel too high? adjust more preload into the back first. Then consider progressive springs in the forks for a better, less spongy ride.
Personally have had the V&H full system on my 04 for about a month now and haven't noticed any issues with the fairings or such (heat). Just not going to be much fun doing my next oil filter change.
Nope I installed Boss500's Yoshi exhaust was a pain in the ass but it worked. Cut off factory muffler just after the collectors when to Auto zone got the piping needed to fit. Took piping to muffler shop they weleded it all together. Took the new mid pipe paited it useing high temp paint. Slid on midpipe slid on yosh bolted yoshi to the exhaust bracket. If you want to just take any muffler to a muffler shop ask them to bend you a mid pipe.
it was a yoshi slip on. While I was at the muffler shop getting the parts welded the pipe bended asked me about the flange I had gotten from sinrath, told him what I paid. Said I got it for a steal. Would have cost me about $100 for him to make one for me.
Exactly. That's a Yoshimura slip-on. I could have done a slip on with my Yosh, but I figured it'd be better for someone else to enjoy the full system.
Fallout, you've got the V&H Supersport FULL system on your bike? You didn't have any problems with the oil cooler bolts? Do you think I can see some pics?

btw , if i will increase rear wheel size (want to buy 170/70/17 pirelli sport demon tires) , will it make effect to acceleration ? if im not wrong then it should very little bit reduse it.
Theoretically it will affect acceleration. More mass = harder to accelerate. You probably won't notice the difference. You WILL however notice a siginificant decrease in handling. It will be sluggish, ESPECIALLY on a 170 rear.

Eh, even so. It's all very touch-n-go about tires on here. You'll hear lots of opinions. Personally I think that a larger rear tire will ruin the flickability of the GS, one of its trademark characteristics which I absolutely love. They make 130 Sport Demons, too, y'know :).

Basically. Had to play with the header area a bit to get a good seat on them. Also spent a good 20 minutes trying to install the rear support bracket wrong, when I realized the right way it went right on.

Didn't have issues with any physical part of the bike. The headers come out and into a V shape right away. Biggest problem is that the bottom of the V is right smack in the way of the oil filter cover.
Exactly, so there ARE some issues. What did you have to do to the headers to get the pipe on?
I didn't have an issue with the pipe hitting anything, just had an exhuast leak at the headers. Loosened, man handled, tightened, a few times till I got it leak free.
So you had to bend the headers to get a proper seal. Yeah. That's called interference. There were exhust leaks because the headers wouldn't seat on the engine correctly, because there were clearance issues.

No, there was nothing physically touching or interfereing with the exhuast. Think it may have been bent just a tad out of whack keeping it from fitting flush on the right side.

That would be Srinath and yes making 1 will cost a ton ... make 40 and it will dramatically drop ... Like I said ... make one and they wont even want to talk to ya ... heck making 40 I still got no respect ... :lol: but that may be cos of me ... not the numbers.
