Title: what metal is the subframe?

anyone know what metal is the subframe?...

my topcase with the OEM rack mounted on CRACKED my subframe where the rack is bolted onto...I need to weld it back asap to ride with my topcase during canada's thanksgiving...

so what metal is it?

Nope.  Not steel.

It is actually made of really crappy steel.

subframe is fine...just the cross bar that the grab rail attaches to it is broken...it's welded now...and hopefully will support the weight of the topcase...
