Easy question/topic...
When I fill up at the gas station, I don't usually dismount my gs. Just swipe the card, open the tank, helmet on, fill up, go. This seems to be a good idea because the tank is level, and I can put more costly gasoline in it.
Am I at risk of spilling and lighting myself on fire and burning to death? Does anyone here dismount?
Thanks- That's it!!!
you're sitting on a fire bomb
I dismount and fill on the sidestand. I've personally found the difference in gas to be pretty small and not really worth it.
As for tipping over and spilling gas everywhere... :dunno: Could happen... It's more likely that someone would hit you and you'd fall over, but... Could happen. Same goes for being on the side/center stand though.
As long as your comfortable and confident with it, then I don't see a problem. I know several people here fill while sitting on the GS.
I stay on :thumb: debit cards ROCK! I dont see any risk in catching fire.. you do have to shut the bike off to open your tank right? I see no point in getting off the bike unless Im going inside to get something else :thumb:
I only wish I could fill my car up w/o getting out
That's what I do, as well as others I know. It's really a preference thing. I highly doubt you're in any danger as you've got the bike off.

Full service? What's that?
It's called getting gas in Oregon...
Speaking of.... What do they do for motos in OR? Hmmm... (http://www.funender.com/phpBB2/images/smiles/think.gif)
They come out, take your keys from you, open your tank, huck a nozzle in there, scrape your paint up, ding your tank, and expect you to tip them.
They take tips? :?
Really?
There's no tip line on the CC receipt...
Poor bastards.
I wouldn't know, really. I was just making assumptions based on the people I normally see hired at our gas stations.
Heh, that's one of the few things I actually miss about living in Honduras: full service gas stations. They would even rock the car back and forth to get the air out of the line (myth? *shrug*).
I did that on my wife's (read boss) car... I got another 1.5 gal in after the thing shut off. :o
The gauge read full until about 75 miles. :thumb:
75 miles? What the hell does your wife drive? The new Bugatti Veyron 16.4[url]? (http://gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=21488)
1.5 G was the extra... Then it read just under full...
It's a Hyundai... Something like 30ish MPG.
Oohhhh, I gotcha. It was a mis-co-myooooo-ni-ca-shuuunnnnnnnnnnnn.
I still on the ticking time bomb I call the GS while at the pump. I also ass molest (http://www.gstwins.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=196799#196799) the thing while I'm putting in the gas so I can get more in. I've had some stares since I started doing it, but now I just smile really big :) and stare back at them. They usually turn away in no time. :thumb:
