Title: Starting troubles
Post by: davekim49 on October 09, 2005, 04:31:54 PM
I just replaced the handlebar on my 04 GS 500f, but now I can't get the starter to work.  Absolutely NOTHING happens when I hit the starter button.  And yes, I made sure the kill switch was not on "off", that the kickstand was up, and that the clutch was depressed.

I opened the casing and checked to see if the contacts were obstructed, but they didn't seem to be.  All the other electrical functions seem to be working.  I can't figure it out.

Any suggestions?

Thanks so much!  Not only was the clutch switch disconnected, but when it still wouldn't start after reconnecting, I figured out that the clutch was reattached in a way as to prevent it from being depressed far enough to engage the clutch switch.  I just rolled it a bit forward, and it provided the 1mm of additional clearance it needed.

Thanks a bunch!
