Title: Brap pop putt putt pop
Post by: Turkina on October 13, 2005, 05:57:34 PM
Now why did I hear strange sounds like that coming from my bike?

Cause the exhaust hanger bolt and the bolts holding one of the header clamps came loose and fell out!   :o

Oh, and two of my fork brace bolts too

Those aren't the things I usually check on my bike when I start it, although it is pretty obvious when you look!  Probably loosened up after doing a couple thousand mile rides, but I wouldn't think that would happen!

So remember kids, occasionally give your bike a good going over with your wrenches and make sure your bolts are torqued properly!  :nono:

Haha. I had the bolts that held the headers onto the engine fall off. Only two of them, one on each side. It was crapily funny. Thankfully I had 4 more in my Box 'O Parts from the '92.

except for those header bolts...put a dabble of anti-seze high-temp on them and tourque them down.

might want to check those axle botls too ;)

maybe you had them saftey wired wrong

j/k someone on this board made the statement that " having something safety wired wrong can actually cause bolts to loosen up faster than if they had not been wired at all"
