Hi,

My first post!, I have a 2004 GS500, but I'm almost sure that it's a '02 model.  Anyhow some idiot left a massive rock in the middle of the road and thank god all I need is a new front wheel (not a new cemetery plot).

I have been offered one that I must get shipped from the UK (to Ireland), but I cannot figure out   whether that wheel will fit my bike.  The breaker said it's a '98 model and has given me the serial number on the wheel?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

if you are lucky it will be the same color

Thanks for the reply,

I am skint at the mo and I can't afford to make a mistake on this, how do you kow that it will definitely fit my bike - are you gauging by the year of manufacture?  Is there any wasy I can confirm it through the serial no's?

um,
all GS500 front wheels are same except color
same as kat 600 750 fron 89-97....except color
or look at www.bikebandit.com and check part numbers between years
they will be diff due to color....

or wait til you find a used 02 rim

God, this is driving me nuts.  Not that I doubt your info.   It's just that everyone I talk to has a differnent story for me, my dealer told me 95 won't fit, werase643 and another dealer said that it should.  Another dealer told me to be very careful buying a 98 because it may not fit.  Is there anywhere I can go to get a definite suzuki validated answer to this?

yes it will fit. All from '89 up will fit with the only new Spanish forked '05s a question mark. but if it has the same 14mm front axle, it will fit.

Your dealer just wanted to sell you a new OEM one.

I will be the fourth to agree that it will fit. werase643 and JG know their shaZam! when it comes to the GS (and other bikes), more than most dealers.

88-89 katana might not work, diff kinda rim, 90 katana and ALL GS500E/F from 89-05 will work unless changed to something else by prev owner.

Dealers want to charge you for a new wheel, it will fit :thumb: .  We have a giant collection of GS owners who have done just about everything, they know.  And if its not the same color, it just adds character  :cheers:
