(I did a search, couldn't find anything recent, so I hope I"m not repeating)
What are your thoughts on vanity plates? I have been thinking about them, but it's really hard to fit something meaningful in 5 letters or less!
Only acceptable if you live in Illinois.
I almost got "GS500F" for my bike here in NY. But figured that might be kinda cheesey. Couldn't come up with anything better though so I stoped entertaining the idea. If I could have come up with something good, I would have done it! We can have 6 charectars.
you guys get six - no fair!
If my name was "Pandy" I'd have no problem :)
I think it's taken. :(
I like vanity plates..I'm trying to think of good ones for both my car and my Baby G. :)
I like them too... here's what I've come up with:
(since I'm stuck on Italian women's names for my next bike - don't ask me why)
QUORA ~ means "heart"
TESSA
ZOLA ~ means "ball of earth"
LEOLA ~ means lion
MADMS ~ my writing name!
You are GREAT at coming up with good ones...I suck, so it's taken me over a year to not come up with anything good for either of my plates.
baby names on the internet m'dear :) I suck too otherwise!
I came up with one in NY before I got my bike, so I let my friend use it for his VFR.

I'm not joking. That's his real plate.
oh that's too funny!

(I was thinking about it when I had my F650, but a personalized plate costs the same for a car or a bike out here...)
Alabama gets 7 letters, and it costs $50. The girl who I bought my bike from had one.
Vanity plates are too easy to remimber when your fleeing the scene

I know that out here they screen all vanity plate requests for "potentially offensive" material and deny them.
I think vanity plates are a little silly, unnecessarily expensive, and too easy to remember. I don't want my tag number to stick in people's memory (not that I'd ever do anything that would cause a problem ). Although I'd love to see "FUBAR" on a rat bike.
I still think the best on a bike I've heard about is here in the bay area:
HOMEB4U
I've had them on my car as long as I can remember, and re: the "hard to forget" comment you can't miss my yellow GS, it's the only one in the valley with a pink cow attached to the back of it  - and people see me "everywhere" so a vanity plate wouldn't make any difference I don't think
Quote from: Maduro Mistressit's the only one in the valley with a pink cow attached to the back of it
You must have one heck of a bungee cord! I'm not even sure I could get a small dog on mine...but a cow? :)
I thought about it, but after finding out that it'd cost me $20 for the lisence plate and an additional $70 for the customization, I said thats that ridiculous and got my crappy normal plate for $20, thats all without tax too... I saw a ricer Honda Civic with "IXLR8" on the plate and I thought that was pretty cool, too bad it was on that car.
I got a cat under a bungee once, we got him stoned on catnip first, or no, wait, we actually got him stoned using the shotgun method!
My thoughts on personalized plate are as follows: I'd rather spend the money on a new set of gloves.

Ehm...well....I don't want to sound boring but I'm italian...
CUORE means 'heart', not 'quora'
what's TESSA??
ZOLLA (with double L) it means 'ball of earth', but it hasn't got such a positive and beautiful meaning in italian
LEONE is the male lion, LEONESSA is the female
I don't want you to go around with a bike with a sensless name!
:nono:

Yeah, but will gloves protect your fender in the event of an accident? :P
I've got vanity plates for my car - and i'll probably get one for my next bike.
The only vanity plates I like are the ones that are really short...
I've seen a car that has the plate: 1
Now THAT would rule...
"What's your plate number?"
"1"
"... ... OK... What's the rest?"
"That's it... My plate number is 1"
Something like that... "A" or "0" would be sweet! Or even "GS."
I like plates that are puns. My Miata was YEEHATA.
when I was on active duty stationed at new river (on my car). JAXNCSUX

LPLATE <-- husband

Wanted to put FYRBOLT on my Chrysler Crossfire. Never did, for fear of diplaying my nerd-osity to the world.
Have always wanted the California Yosemite plates with OF QRTZ on it for my Jeep.
Wanted BLKPERL for my husband's black jeep with the pirate sticker on the back window. It's taken. :x
diamond_lady - thanks for the heads up! Damn lying internet!
I have it nailed down to
NECI - Latin for Intense / Fiery
MISSM - me : )
and a couple other "secret" ones!
this is my favorite plate and it is not a vanity (see text)

No.
But recently, a giant Milwakee's Best Light can landed on him.
Lucky! Did he open it and drink the delicious contents?
I haven't seen the commercial in question, by the way, but I assume it has to do with a couple wearing matching outfits? I have seen others in the series.
Heard from a guy:
His truck: AGIT8OR
Her truck: AGIT8ED
I thought that was hilarious.

That just makes all the hardcore geeks chuckle at you. :)
The plate on Don Box's Porche was "IUNKNWN", I have a friend with "XYZZY" (If you get that one, you're an old school geek).
if you want a geek plate, how bout 1337, 0wn3d, Pwn3d, H4x0r, H4x0rz, or some derivative in leet? Just a thought.. but then, everyone will know I'm a geek when I get a GT license plate... so no need to put the effort in for me... :)

Sorry I have to correct you again.... who does such a horrible job on the internet?? Tell me the site so I can kick theri ass! :guns:
I studied latin for almost 7 years. NECI has no meaning, I swear, I just checked up in my dictionary.
If you want a well done job send me a pm with every idea you have, I can translate in italian and latin in 5 minutes! ;)
(where is the crying icon :( )
here's the link for NECI http://www.babynamenetwork.com/baby_names/search.cfm
I can't remember where I got the last lot from.
I am going to go crawl away now

Hi all,
I like vanity plates on my bikes.
On my 1991 GS500E, my plate says CAB 27.
That's because a similar TAXI plate was previously on my last bike, a 1984 Yamaha RZ350 that I sold in 1993. I owned the RZ beginning in 1986, while I was still in college and working my way through school in Madison, Wisc., by driving a taxicab. It was Cab 27. My RZ was the Kenny Roberts yellow and black edition, and it looked great next to my real taxi, as you can see.
When I moved to PA after school, I had to swap my registration to PA and the TAXI plate was not available. So I received the CAB27 plate instead, which I use now. Here are some photos of my former RZ and my former taxi. OK, I was a little overboard, but I had fun. :)
Yours,
Todd

My old '82 Yamaha Vision had a model designation of XZ550, and for some reason I always think of a way to remember model designations, so I thought of it as seXZy550. Anyway, if you wanted to use those letters in your plate...
XZA55 or XZ500

By the way...I have a passion in 'naming things', I'm really sad because here in Italy vanity plates are not legal. (ahem....basically NOTHING is legal in this country...)
But if I could have a vanity plate I would definitely do my best... 8)
I have a passion for words, phrases (I have two lettering tattoos); lately I've been busy founding a name for my GS: I couldn't decide, then I bought the new jacket for the bike and it has "diamond lady" written on the back...so I found the name!
Quote from: diamond_ladyahem....basically NOTHING is legal in this country...
Yeah...but I thought people just ignored that and did what they wanted to anyway.
I love that TAXI bike!

That's what I do....as long as they don't put me into jail
Damn, I'm always a big fan of Yamaha's classic yellow and black design. That's a fine lookin' bike.
Resurrecting this to see if anyone has any other interesting vanity plate stories...I'm about to register my bike in PA and I've got a few ideas of my own though they're mostly just shortened indie band names.
Also, anyone have any tips for finding if a tag's been taken or not? Or choosing an unlikely tag? I was already thinking about possibly writing the letters in reverse.
