So after many a suggestion and a lot of cruising the net... I decided that a GS 500F would be man enough for this wee lass. I talked to the dealer over the phone and told him what I'm interested in, and he said that's exactly what he was going to have me try when I went in.
I went in a day later (yesterday) and fell in love with my Darth Mal, that's what his name's gonna be... I know really geeky. But I wanted to thank each and everyone of you for the sound advice.
I haven't quite figured how to post pictures, but if you hit up my page on MSN it has a picture of my soon-to-be!

Good choice! I don't think you will be disappointed in the least bit. :thumb:

I'm disappointed all the time.
Disappointed I have to be at work when there's great riding weather outside, disappointed when I have to put it away for the evening, disapointed when circumstance mandates taking the car, you know...that kind of thing. ;)
Have ya checked out Ninja 250's too?
I hate to recommend a different bike on the GS Forums, but they have a really low seat too. I haven't compared to two head-to-head so I don't know which is lower.
Also, Darth Mal? Man you are a geek! :-D
OK, ban Syphon! Ban him! Just kidding... good unbiased advice, but seriously ban him.
Go with the GS you'll be happier all around, short term... long term... middle term :dunno: ... in every respect.
Welcome to your new life! Praise the lord! Amen!
Callista,
good choice on the color too. welcome to the fold...
If the bike fits, ride it. :thumb: Welcome to the club.
Yeah but for us short people, there isn't much selection in terms of "bigger bikes." Would compressing the rear spring be of any significance in terms of getting our feet planted more firmly on the ground? Also if that was done, how would it effect the ride quality/performance?
