Well I was informed earlier today that Pablo was taken out at the track. From what Will told me, a motard stuffed him into the last turn before the straight at Buttonwillow. I guess they both ended up goin down, and Pablo's 600rr went down on top of him. I dont know all the details, but I know he has a broken collar bone. Hopefully once he gets home and situated he will be able to let us know how hes doing. But for now, Here is hopin you get better soon Pablo.
Argh! :( :(
So sorry to hear that.
Get better, man.
ACK!!! No no no....not Pablo. :( :( :(
Heal up quickly!!!!
And PLEASE let us know if there's anything we can do!!!! :dunno:
AUGH!! NO!!! :x
I hope he's ok... :( Well, as ok as he can be...
Get better Pablo!

I hope you get to feeling better soon. Heal well.

What a trooper! Putting his body between his bike and the ground, sacrificing himself to keep his CBR from getting damaged further! Now that's commitment!
Heal up quick!
Oh no ... not peetey pablo ... get better quick brutha ...
Cool.
Srinath.
Pablo, I hope you are allright!
Prayers and whatnot are with you.
Best wishes, hope he gets better ASAP.
If i remember the treatment for broken collar bone correctly, there is a man who is going to get very very bored.
Doesn't Dainese make a motard protector?
Hope everything heals up quick.
don't worry, i'll be picking up your slack as a mod.
Feel better, big guy - collarbone breaks can suck, I hope yours heals up fast and with little pain.
take it easy, I hope your back on the bike in no time!
jiminycricket! :o

Haven't you read the mod rules? Mods aren't allowed to drink beer...not even a sip of fire water... :?
And no one can replace our Pablo.

happened on the second session...we're suprised to hear about it after getting off the class....it sucks..nice to see him at the later part of the day though....in very good spirits too...heal well pablo! atleast they didnt cut your leathers
Hope you get well soon Pablo!
Aww! That sucks, Pablo! Ah the benefits of having junk bodywork, eh? Hope you feel better.
Maybe we can mail a card all around the country, have people sign it and then mail it on to the next person in line. At the end we can mail it to Pablo. It will be about a year after he heals before he gets it due to the postal system, but I bet he'd laugh his ass off in a year.
Heal up quick Pablo! And keep that arm in a sling. Collar bones take forever to heal if you don't keep it immobile...at lease mine did!
Hate to hear it man, hope you heal well. :thumb:
get better quick pablo. hope you and your bike made it through with minor cosmetic damage, no bent frame for YOU or your BIKE.
heal up.
Pablo,
Hope you heal quickly. You've been a constant here since I first came on board. Take it slow and don't let Hugo jump on you.
Jake
Best wishes, man! :thumb:
goddamnit, it hurts when I laugh! You guys are a funny bunch...oh my god...
You heard right. I fell right on my shoulder and was looking up-close-and-personal-like with the asphalt before I knew it. Got up right away but had the wind knocked out of me bad. tried to pick up the bike and thats when I knew it was bad...then my eyes dialated. The sensation of my vision fading to white freaked me out a little. Came back just as easily 5-10 minutes later.
well, you're all curious as to what specifically happened, I'm sure. So here it is.
I was dicing it up with a guy, John, I had met once or twice before. He was on a 'tard and we were keeping a good pace. Zoom-Zoom allows inside passing in the B group (6ft clear though). Bad Idea IMO. In an attempt to keep in front of me, John was making very bad passes, stuffing people badly. I had just gotten past him exiting the Esess and we were heading tward the final (left) turn, catching up to a few riders (gixxers...of course they were getting lapped...). I went to the far right side, the racing line, and John came in really deep on the inside line...I mean he was all the way over a the inside edge of pavement, going into the turn. I saw him and knew it wasn't good-for him.
Sure enough, John loses the front and slides BETWEEN the two riders. The second rider slams his brakes as he stands it up, locking his wheels up. This is where I made my fatal error. Instead of focusing down the straight and committing to a tighter line, or looking off the turn and standing it up, riding it out into the dirt...Instead of that, I tried to stop the bike while focused on the bike in front of me. At the last minute I decided to try making the turn. As soon as I let off the brakes the front went out from under me and I was slammed to the ground, onto my left side.
Ultimately I blame a series of things. I am partly to blame for continuing the cat-and-mouse with John. He is partly to blame for riding like an ass. Zoom-zoom is partly to blame for inside passing allowed in B group (I just dont think thats a good idea with fast riders that dont have the skill and judgement of racers). Fault lies with me though, most of all.
Damage to me, besides collarbone is bruising on right butt cheek (from tumbling?) and to me left rib/back area.
Damage to bike (as best we looked at it so far), track fairings (L side, tail, upper) scuffed. Upper missing 3" chunk, making it two peices, also cracked in 2 places. passenger peg scraped. Frame slider and swingarm spool carried the bike, protecting from more damage. Front fender scraped, L barend snapped off, L switchgear missing small cap. Varius fairing screws either missing or ground up a bit. Starts up and runs fine. A more thorough examination is necessary. I'll need help patching up the fiberglass upper though.
thats it for now. Fontana trackday Nov 26th is iffy, depending on recovery...
so, no, I wasnt stuffed and yes, I protected the bike! :thumb: no, tires were plenty warm and I was not riding at 10/10ths pace because I am a cautious passer. Track plastics paid for themselves yesterday! I knew it was only a matter of time-I dont hold very much back when I'm at the track. Thats why I go.
All of your concern anw well-wishes is very touching, really. You're a special group...okay, actually davipu is short-bus special.... :nana:

your lucky I'm not down there to poke you in the shoulder.
Owwwch! :(
Do you wear a back protector?
Yeah, I saw the pics and thought, good thing he has cheap plastics on those. Heal up fast!
I dont, but am reconsidering that.
d-i'll poke you in the eye!
Sheesh!! Glad you're ok...
Maybe they'll reconsider their policies... Nah, probably not.
Heal up and go whoop that guy's ass. :guns:
Quote from: RVertigoMaybe they'll reconsider their policies... Nah, probably not.
NESBA doesn't allow passing on the inside until you get to the A(dvanced) group, FWIW. Passing on the straights only for the B(eginner) group. I think that's a good idea, m'self.
Ja, after I bought a back protector, I thought "I'm going to feel stupid if a car hits me and I have a $250 protector in my closet," so I just wear it everywhere.
actually, this is the ONLY org I've ever come across that allowed inside passing in the intermediate group (B group). they still have a "must be 6ft clear for a safe pass" rule but you know how it is on the track...you lose judgement in order to make a pass sometimes...
I will be telling them my feelings (I did enjoy myself until that time) and do hope they change their policies.
Glad it wasn't worse. How's the wife feeling now...about you riding?
she's a bit freaked by the whole thing. I can see the wheels spinning in her head. waiting for full altermath in a few days after she gets over the initial shock...
the passes should be allowed on outside only and never before a S. If you push too far on outside and tank it, much less chance of taking anyone else with you.
Glad to hear your OK Pablo. I got the call from Will while I was still at work, said that you had gone down. Glad it wasnt as bad as it could have been and i'm sure ill see you on the track again soon :). (15th at buttonwillow :) is my next)
oh my pablo.. i am glad you are atleast posting and not that bad of a shape that i initially thought. Heal fast buddy.. it will take a few weeks, but you will get there.
Oh man, I'm sorry about your get off. But I'm very glad you're basically okay, and in good spirits. Get well soon.
Glad you're ok! Rule of thumb is about 8-9 weeks for collar bone injuries (both hairline and full fracture), and you'll be ready to go again. Best wishes.
Glad you're ok, and well enough to be posting.. and heal up quick, cuz I wanna see you poke davipu right in his eye...
8-9 weeks!! oh man. they told me 4-6 weeks. yes, its a full fracture-clean break.
thanks again to everyone for all your warm well-wishes and thoughts.
Blueknyt-most orgs. dont allow inside passing in the intermediate group, this one does. ive written to them asking them to reconsider their policy.
daniely-i havent even factored in my gear replacement costs. bike faired well but ill need a new helmet! arai signet gt...can you hook me up (when your discount kicks in)? i wont need it right away... :?
Ill see what I can do :). I can get you a price now, but I cant buy until the 10th next month (who's counting anyways?). Will and I are hittin up sequoia national park tomorrow morning (well I guess this morning). How did the A-stars treat ya?
A-stars hed up great. very little wear to show for sliding/falling. boots are unscuffed. thanks.
YAY!!! He's back!!! I knew those threats of davipu's would bring our knight in shining armour back! ;)
Glad to hear from you, Pablo. (yeah, I know I'm a little late...I was out of town for your grand return. :P )

you two pinheads need to grow your melons and start wearing XXL's like the real playas!
Actually, I bet finding decent helmets in stock in XS is just as hard as finding them in stock in XXL. I'm tired of wearing helmets that don't quite fit right because I couldn't actually try the right size on in the shop. I've had to buy or make new liners/cheekpads for the last two I've bought.
you are SO lucky the email link doesnt work for me....PM me your email... :)
