Title: BLUE 2004 GS Sighting! - Atlanta, GA (close to Doraville)
Post by: TarzanBoy on October 25, 2005, 09:53:19 AM
So, i'm driving down Buford Hwy back to work, minding my own business and trying to rap over some phat classical mozart beats (joking).... when I pass the 'cycle stop'... one of 3 motorcycle shop/repair places within  1.3 miles of each other.

I glance to see what bikes are in front of it today and a familiar looking fairing and tail catch my eye.  It was my '89 F's (http://riftwave.net/misc/gs500.jpg) doppleganger... a blue 2004 gs500!

Now i've seen Blue '05's, navy blue '97's, black 05's and even a black rattle-canned '96 franken-bike... but this is the first I have seen an '04 blue in the are (besides mine, which looks pretty close).

Would that bike in particular belong to anyone here on the board?  I'm tempted to ride mine to work tomorrow just do I can take it over there and take a cool pic of the two and their differences.

hey man what's up have you been going to that car meet on thursdays? i haven't lol anyways. No that's not my cuz's bike it's theirs and i think that they are trying to sell it. you could take it there to compare yours to theirs, but last time i saw the bike had a severely cracked fairing on the left side of it. It's pretty bad don't know how much they want for it but i know it has been dropped maybe even lowsided  :dunno: .

Up to you though alright PM me if you ever go back to there or plan on it anytime soon.

I can't.  I promised a friend that I would cover him at work this coming thursday (he works evenings).

That bike might be a good deal for your friend since it has cosmetic damage.  He could always get a new fairing, or order the Brazilian Aluizio Motos body kit/fairing.

Ok whats the big deal about going to resturants and hanging out to check eachothers car's out?  I understand going to the track and doing that . . you can talk $hit and if you want to race eachother, you can do it legally.

:dunno: just seems to be a waste of time. . . .
Most of the people there were a bunch of teenagers and early twenties just braging about how nice their cars & trucks were. . . and most of them seemed fairly dumb.

We have car gatherings here. There are very rarely any ricer cars or dumb people there. In fact the majority of the cars are classic restorations or vintage muscle cars. Most of them know their shaZam! too, as they are usually in their mid-50s. There is an exotic or two sometimes, but it's usually just really pretty muscle cars, hot rods, and oddities. No racing, no shaZam! talking.

In the usmmer just about every sunday about 35ish(?) guys and gals meet at a place near me, all different sport bikes (crusiers tend to go elsewhere.) And you get a mix of all ages from 19-60 and different bikes and such as well, no trash talking, no racing.
I think it's interesting to go, you can learn a lot by talking to other ppl and what they've done, how they did it, or get ideas for your bike or future bikes etc. In my mind car gathers would be around the same (correct me if I'm wrong though)

I'd say for ppl to goto these at leat once because they can be great for learning or just seeing and meeting ppl.

Just a thought.

We meet up, grab some dinner and shoot the shaZam!.  We don't "STREET RACE" or any of that other crap.  Of coarse with anything having to do with cars/bikes you'll attract some of the ricers who are into acting like a retard and looking to race people.  The regular guys are generally pretty knowledgable, and actually hang out/are friends outside of the weekly meets.   Mostly for me its just something to do on an otherwise boring thursday night.

We street race here in Atlanta all the time.  For money and for expensive european import race tuned cars.  On public roads and through traffic... but only after 11pm since all the cops in Georgia keep regular working hours and are in bed by then.

As a matter of fact, they based  "The Fast & Furious" and "Midnight Club 3:Dub Ediition" on my real-life adventures.
