Title: Hyperwhite bulb replacement?
Post by: rtcpenguin on October 25, 2005, 06:49:46 PM
I want to replace my current headlamp bulb with a hyperwhite bulb. I was wondering if anyone can recommend a website/store that sells them. I don't care for the Silverstars (too yellow), and prefer the bulbs that are tinted blue. I got a pair of bulbs from CC for $16 (for my car) that are nice, but they are the wrong wattage for the GS.

I have a PIAA Super White bulb that I got last year.  (They don't seem to make them anymore.)  I like the color, but it's only about 3800K, not intense enough for your tastes I suspect.

Still, any of these (http://www.piaa.com/Bulbs/Bulbs-H4.html) would do.  Pick something in the 4000K or hotter, like the Super Plasma GT-X.  That should be hot enough for ya.  :)

Careful with blue-tinted bulbs (http://www.danielsternlighting.com/tech/bulbs/blue/bad/bad.html).

My experience with PIAA bulbs (with cars) is that they are no different that other hyperwhite bulbs and many times the price.

These ones seem reasonable: http://store.racinglab.com/kyosuexxewhh2.html , but I will continue checking local stores to see if they have anything similar.

Yeah... Seriously...  Who the hell thought blue light would be a good thing?    They must be a huge fan of glare.

Yeah, blue is lame. But I don't really care.

Btw, RVertigo, :O funky sig.

Didn't they use to/still think yellow was better? Or they didn't know how to create white lights? (most old cars have yellow bulbs, plus the color of street lights)

Yellow is better...  Cuts glare, rather than adding to it.

You talking about my pic?   :?  Yeah... So odd I had to take a picture.

That's a good site:

Street lights are yellow because they're sodium vapor lamps.

Maybe I'm just magical, because I can definitely see more with my hyperwhites in my car than its old yellow stock bulbs.
