Picked up the GS500F at lunch. Ja, it felt just like my 2004; like saying hi to an old friend again. Bike just fits like a glove. It was overcast but nice enough when I rode back, so I figgered I'd get some pics on the way home.
The lab meeting went long... and when I left, it was dark, rainy, and very, very windy. Oh well. After September, I wear my rain gear all the time. The camera was chilly and just wanted to go home.

I'll get the seat trimmed on Saturday. Not fun having to tip the bike to get a toe down.
So what do you ride most often? The Burger?
Also, is your older GS-500 being worked on or something?
/me wishes he had several bikes to choose from.
We should go cruising some day. I'd beg you to let me ride your bike (I really want to compare an F to my naked bike. :D)
it's beautiful... I am extremely jealous... you go through too many bikes... I can't even get ONE.... poor, poor me.... seriously though, it looks nice.. and I like the black/red color scheme, same as my mustang... even if it's the colors for my biggest Rival (how bout them dawgs? Piss on em!) Treat her right.... you mentioned you're getting the seat trimmed... how much will you have it trimmed, and how tall are you? Cuz I'm scared of the height of the GS... I'm 5'3 w/ about a 29" inseam... I know the GS has approximately a 30" seat height, but the one I got to sit on for all of 2 seconds seemed really tall.. as in, I had to tip it way to the side to get a foot on the ground.. which makes me nervous, but I figure better to get the GS and force myself to ride it right, than to get a ninja, and be able to flat foot it, but have an inferior bike... anyway, just wondering if you had any thought for me.. sorry bout the long reply...
Cool but it's sad that it's not Yellow. :(
Or Blue with Orange wheels
I can just see the tears rolling down the side of that bike. :(
nice choice on colors RG :thumb:

Thank goodness!!!!!! :P
How tall are you?
Quote from: RedShiftCool but it's sad that it's not Yellow. :(
:( Yeah...
And... HOLY CRAP that wind sucked!!! I thought my front end was going to wash out... Nothing like your bike dancing under you while you're trying to do 60 on a wet road with rain beating down on you. :o
Oh, it would be so much faster if it were yellow! :P
I commute mainly on my Burger. It's comfy and can hold anything I might take it in my head to pick up on the way home (if pop is on sale, I can get a couple of cases...). The '91 is just passing through. I'm 5'1" with something less than a 29" inseam, and I have to tilt the bike to get a foot down. For '01+, they put on a seat that has these godawful wings on the side that push your legs out and make it harder to reach the ground; most of the trimming was just getting those out. Rich is good, though; he shapes the seat so it fits your butt and you can get enough of a foot down to be comfortable. After he did my '04, I got the ball of one foot solidly down, and that's enough.
Quote from: RoadstergalOh, it would be so much faster if it were yellow!
Hey... I tried to help! :P
Ja, I got a call telling me there were yellows out there to be had. But the red had already grown on me... I kinda like it.
Not just one... But TWO Yellow '04s. TWO!!! They both had 1 mile on them (or something).
I was close to thinking about it... But, I wouldn't be able to ride it from the grave my wife would have put me in.

You need some red rim accents... and a tinted wind-screen.
Ach, there are so many things in this life I need.
Seat trim first. Second - well, I have the Yosh tri-oval slipon from the GSX-R. I'd have to get that welded - or else sell it and get a can and Srinath flange. I'd really like to have a titanium exhaust again...
I def think you picked the right color. when i was picking my 05 out, the blue looked better in the show room. but now being a few months into having the bike, the black/red i cant get tired of.
you're making me miss my bike :(
enjoy...i knew u wouldnt last long without an F...
have the guy thats doin ur seat do a how to since im almost as vertically challenged as you and it drives me insane...

I love the black/red of the '05s FAR better than the blue. And I LIKE blue! Good pictures, gorgeous bike. I wouldn't mind trimming my seat down either, despite the fact I'm 5'10 with something like a 31" inseam or something. Those wings are just annoying. The '92 felt much more comfortable. How much will your seat trimming cost you?
Oh, and BLUE bikes are the fastest ones.
I posted a Rich-cutting on the Breva in O&E, but what he charges for is the experience and skill he has in shaping seats to fit butts and riding positions. The ideal seat is one that distributes all of your weight evenly over all of your butt when you're riding, and so a Rich's seat is a half-day (at least) thing to get the right fit. It costs a little over $100 for a trim without a gel pad and with the stock cover. IMO, worth it. You can trim it down for height purposes just by taking off the cover, trimming the foam, and re-stapling the cover back on; it costs as much as you have to use to bribe your friend with the staple gun.
can we ship our seats to him to do it? where is he at?
http://www.richscustomseats.com/
He prefers to have people come in. I've seen people in there who have come from Canada, California, and even a couple who rode in from Virginia.
Hmm. I guess I'm lucky that I've got a staple gun lying around my house. My mother bought it because she decided she wanted to reupholster her own furniture from now on. Convenience, no?
Beautiful Bike Roadstergal! I, as well have the same bike as you. Any more pics of it, preferably one with you on it??
I'm just playin'. :)
haha... someone else lured in by RG's hot avatar! ^^^
so wait... another GSF. what's the deal. I didnt' see any posts about the GSXR leaving or anything.

A guy I know is making it into his race bike, and I have an F for the winter.
I was looking for GSs at Alki, but couldn't find any...

OK, me on the GS. Ogle my sexy raingear. Although I'm happy to see you, that is just a garage door opener in my pocket.

The green crap is trying to compensate for a yellow-saturated pic. I'm not going to end on that one. Earlier today:

Sorry to go a little off subject here, but what camera are you using? Are you a professional photographer? Those pictures are awesome, I especially like the first one :thumb: You've got a great eye for photos.
Oh yeah, the bike looks great too, congrats on the new 05.
Danke. Photos are my hobby, not a profession. I have a Konica-Minolta DiMAGE (horrible name for a camera) Z6. I like it, but there are some things I prefer about my former camera, a Kodak DX6490 (better burst mode, and for some odd reason, you can't use the flash with manual mode on the DiMAGE).
Nice choice on the camera, the Z6 is a nice camera, but after having sold the things for a little over a year, my personal recommendation would have been the panasonic DMCFZ-5.... Many of the same features as your Z6, but with a nicer lens (true Leica), Optical image stabilizer, instead of a CCD-anti-shake, rechargeable lithium ion battery (~150 shots), and an unlimited consecutive shoot mode, so theoretically, you could hold your shutter and take 2.x frames per second until your memory card filled up...
Ok... enough techie crap, I agree, the pics are nice! :thumb:
What turned me off of the FZ5 was no manual focus.
I liked my Kodak's Li-ion, but the Z6 is no battery-sucker; a charged set of NiMH lasted me a race weekend and then some.
Ahh.. I forgot about the lack of manual focus... they built it into the FZ5's larger predecessor, the FZ-20.. but it was probably a little big for your use... on another note... answering my post 1 minute after I posted it.... lurking a little bit? Bored today?

When did you go down there?
Just good timing. :)
I was at Alki about 6-7ish...
like the new bike, looks just like my GS :thumb: . As far as giving you hell for going through a lot of bike, eh, some of us are addicted to worse things.
Oh, there are more expensive things to be addicted to than GSs. :)
Edmonds. 170 miles.

Hah... that pic of the bike on the dock is nice... but how much fun was it (not) getting the bike back off the dock?
It's a nice flat dock, so I rolled down and back up without issues.
It's hard to get a pic there, because I don't want to get in the way of folk loading/unloading boats. But today was a slow day.
Great pictures RG. to your photography hobby.

I like that tank-bag. I never even realized the gas tank was a good spot for luggage like that.
roadstergal, we have the same tankbag. We should hook up or something.
 I really like my Manta (http://www.newenough.com/joe_rocket_manta_tank_bag_page.htm). It's big enough for the essentials (camera, cell phone, MP3 player, wallet, garage door opener, some other crap), but not so big that it gets in the way.
