I was just wondering if all rear shocks where created equal in terms of dimensions? This crappy stock one has to go and was looking at aftermarket but seems like an SV one is pretty nice as well as a katana one or a used Gixxer to bolt onto my FZR...I don't even weight enough to compress the spring on the "1" preload setting :o
I have a 2003 SV shock. But I'm a large mammal and it raises the bike a bit. Prolly not for you. Go with the Kat shock.

other shocks are stiffer. the gs shock is actually pretty mild. check your static sag settings to see how much you actually compress the shock. If the bike is relatively new or low miles the shock will "break-in" and compress more.
na this one is off my FZR w/ 15K miles....it's broken in alright  I just seems really really stiff on the "soft" preload. It is 12" center to center bolt holes....I double checked the GSXR is 13" and an SV650 [03+] is 13" as well....I'm thinking frame angle while riding [big butt up in the air] or are these shocks superior and I can tone it down?
A stock R1 rear shock fits my dimensions except for the little reservior....
