Title: SV colors
Post by: Roadstergal on October 29, 2005, 07:41:10 PM
I normally just plain do not like blue on bikes.  It's just my own taste - I like red and yellow.  So I assumed I was going to really like the red SV650 and dislike the blue one.
But now that I've seen them in person - the red is a very blah red, and the blue - wowza, it is an awesome blue!  It's electric, metallic, a very lively blue without even a hint of pastel anywhere.

Now I'm going to have to footnote all of my posts about color preference.

Bleh!!!!!!  I *hate hate hate* the new SV blue! LoL! I talked to a salesman today, and he said he'd not talked to anyone yet who'd liked it (he asked if colour was why I was looking for the 2005). Maybe it's nicer in person???  :o

Unfortunately, his dealership only has a YELLOW 2005 SV left...  :?  Nooooooooooooooooo.... ;)

Night and day.  I hated the pastel pale blue on the site.  I don't know where they got that color - they sure didn't get it from the actual bike.

Yellow SVS with the black frame is a purty bike.

But that blue - gal, wait and check it out in person.  The standard has a nifty little bikini fairing this year.

I really liked the previous model's deep metallic blue color. When it was waxed right it looked amazing. Very deep, very shiny, VERY sparkly. This new turquoise one... I dunno. I like teal and it's derivatives, but on a motorcycle? I'm not quite sure. I'll wait to see one at the dealership to make up my mind.

Is the SV's new red a metallic red?

A guy I rode with over the summer had an SV just like that; it was an SV650S till he wrecked it..haha. So now it is just an SV650, but it is still copper. Looked awesome, even without the front fairing.  :thumb:

It's only purple GS's I really like (though I've seen some pretty purple Harleys, too)!

Orange cars and bikes should be outlawed. ;)

Why? What do you have against orange? What did it ever do to you?

Actually, I probably wouldn't want the copper for myself, but it's not a bad colour at all!

Yeah, the copper SV and Nissan 350Z look nice, but can you imagine how completely and utterly impossible it must be to find gear to match your bike?

Fortunately, black goes with everything!

Yeah, black works with everything, but then we get into the argument of being seen. Plus you get the whole "goth" look; it's so out of style now.

I finally got to see an '06 SV650 in person today. I was dissapointed as Woods only had the red one and not the blue one along side it. I was sorely dissapointed by how bland and horribly boring it was. There was no metallic to it, no specific glass that stood out. It was very run of the mill, very ho hum. Not even close to the '05 GSX-R red hotness. Seriously. It just sucked.

I also saw one of the new V-Strom 650s in the "blue" color. It's bad. Really. Where does Suzuki get the idea people would want a baby-blue Baby-Strom? It's got a deent metal flake to it, but that color is just... gah. Sky blue on a motorcycle? Come on!!

I also stood and stared dumbfounded at how completely and utterly GORGEOUS the new SV1000S's silver paintjob is. It's visually stunning. It's got an absolutely fantastic metallic paint running all over it, sparkling all over with big chunky sparkles, not subtly placed in there at all. This is metallic paint in its truest form. When you look close, you can almost see each individual spec of metal. The paint also looks very deep due to the clear coat, which only further enhances the metallic look of the bike.
I seriously love the color. Go marvel at it when you can.

Still think the '03 copper on the SV is the best paint color Suzuki's gone with in YEARS.  Hell, any jap bike manufacturer, for that matter.

I saw the 06' blue sv today and the color just doesn't do it for me.  The vstrom 650 in red looks nice but I just don't like the face.

It's a nice metallic flake, but it's still silver.  I like the copper COLOR.

Yeah, the copper color was nice, but that metal flake in the new '06 drives me nuts. It's awesome! I want it now.

That's what surprised me about the blue.  It has that.

The blue is super metallic? I really want to see it, but the dealer doesn't have on in yet. If it has the same metallic as that silver SV1000S, I'm going to be in heaven.

There's some difference of opinion on it, but it's my favorite of the 2006 colors (I haven't seen the 500F in person yet, though).
