My dad fell in love with my GS, and now he wants one.
He put his eyes on a '91 GS, with 70000 km on the tach.
Considering that he wants a bike for sunday trips and pleasure ridings, and considering that the guy is selling it at a very low price and that he claims it's in very good conditions.... do you think it could do another 30.000/50.000 km?
I haven't got much experince when it comes to putting km's on the GS as mine only has 1,650km on it. But from what i have gathered on this site it will take as many miles as you want to give it.
70,000km = 43,500miles.
Hmm. I would expect engine work in your future. If you're OK with that, go ahead and buy it if the price is right. Put some time and money into it and bring it back to new. It isn't that difficult.
I've heard of GS's running to 80,000 miles or so. That really isn't a lot of miles, but remember that most motorcycles are rarely ridden and thrashed when they are.
I've got 80k miles(128,000km) on the 97 I bought new in 99 w/o any engine work. Have 32k miles on the 02 and it's now running like new. It's had some engine work unrelated to milage, factory goofup.
All depends how previous owners treated the 91, oil changes, etc.

:o
congratulations!!
My dad already had a lot of bikes and knows how to do engine work. He's looking for a bike to ride and to take care of, so I think it could be a good deal.
All depends on the conditions... during the week we'll go and take a look at the GS
