Always with the bad drivers! Cagers simply arnt expecting motorcycles near and around them.

Its the morning and raining.

I was coming up on the right side of traffic and behind a car just pulling over. He pulls over to the right and I pull ahead as its clear. As soon as I'm on the throttle the car to my LEFT doesnt signal as he pulls directly into my lane in front of me assuming the lane is now clear that the other cager has pulled off :bs:

I fishtailed, but controlled the situation. I give him a blast of my horn and he pulls back to the left.

I'm pretty pissed off at this point as he just about made my day, so I pass the jerk and give him the ol  :nana:

There is no room for any of the morning grogginess on a bike. Its only assertiveness and often aggressivness. I'm going to use my horn, my lane positioning, eye contact and hand signals a lot more to get what I want and safely.

Its like assuming a whole different personality when riding- It carries over to my non-riding life as well. I get off my bike pumped and energetic and I find I'm more willing to exhert my position during class discussion and socially as well.

Awesome! who knew riding a motorbike could be a life skill? :thumb:

That's about the most common thing I get in terms of thanks-for-almost-killing-me.  Last night, I was heading I-5S->520, and a gal with that middleage coiffure signals and pulls right over where I am.  I honk, she's unfazed, I have to brake.  I flash my brights, and I see in the brights her shake her head and shrug, as if to say "oh, those annoying motorcyclists.."  Well, I'm speed-limited anyway, so I just hang on her tail with the brights on for as long as we're going the same way - which ends up being 520 all of the way to 405.  She'd move a little to get the brights out of her rearview... I'd put them in her sideview... she'd move a little to get the brights out of her sideview... I'd put them in her rearview.  I hope I gave her a whanging headache.

And of course, five people do the same thing on the way to work this morning.  Slow day.

My vote is still for registered paintball guns with certified paint.  :guns:

If the authorities find a vehicle with three splats of the paint, the driver is forced to attend a motorcycle safety class that includes riding on the road in traffic as a final.

I am beginning to think ALL cagers should earn cycle certificates prior to 4 wheels. It would raise the bar on being sensitive to their surroundings.

forget paintball guns... just carry some ball bearings to throw at about 60ish mph... that'd be fun

I've almost been in that type of accident several times. Cagers underestimate bikes' ability to pass vehicles turning off the road.

Whenever I hear my GS horn, it makes me think of a timid little woman saying, "Excuse me! Oh, excuse me, please! Hello? Can you hear me? Excuse me, please sir, excuse me!"

Yup...  

The horn says, "So sorry for being in the lane you wanted, pardon me!  "
The stock exhaust says, "Yo sucka!  Look out!"
Aftermarket exhaust says, "GET THE F%$K OUTTA MY WAY ASSHAT!!"
And the finger says, "You're an ass!!"

I named my bike "The Roadrunner" because of the horn because that's exactly what it sounds like. "BEEP BEEP"!!  :)

I picked up an aftermarket horn with some Italian name at the local PepBoys earlier this week, along with some relays and a new flasher unit, so I can install them in an orgy of bike modding that I have planned for this weekend.  DL-1000 hand guards, Dual Star grip heaters + heat-troller, horn, and finally getting the Buell signals installed.

I got fed up with the pansy stock horn after an old guy nearly sideswiped me trying to get into my lane in city traffic a week or two ago -- never even looked over until I kicked his door as he was merging over.  The expression on his face was priceless, but I was too busy trying not to get run into a parked car to really enjoy it.

Last time that happened to me I was in bumper to bumper traffic on I-95 heading home from Richmond.  Cars all around and me in the fast lane.  The lady next to me goes "oh 80 isn't fast enough and starts to come over into the 'empty' spot.  I "beep beep"ed my puny horn nothing.  I tried to slow, truck behind me didn't, i got onto the shoulder, thank God there was one.  There was a bridge coming up though were the shoulder turned into concrete wall.  Being that i didn't have time to slow before the bridge so I kicked her car.  She looked pissed but got back into her lane and all was well.  I flipped her off and Thanked God again that the last ditch effort worked.  

So far its happened to me three times all on I-95 all in or north thf Richmond, VA.  The kick the car method works great as a last resort if you can't go faster, slower, or ride the sholder to get out of the way.

edit: and by bumper to bumper i mean everyone going 20 over the speed limit really close, the kind of thing i avoid at all costs if i can.
