Title: New Hottness
Post by: snoopy on November 02, 2005, 11:05:47 PM
This is a two part thread, be warned.

First of all, hello.  I've been lurking these forums since I got my GS at the end of July, my first bike.  Thank you all for all the help you have already unknowingly given me.

Second of all, I'm here to show off my blue 2001 with a brand spankin' new Acerbis Blitz headlight and bikemaster mirrors.

It also has progressive springs up front and Clubman handlebars are very soon to come.   I'll update with more pics once the new bars are on and the stickers are off!

For anyone who is interested the Blitz headlight went on with no problems at all.  Wiring is very easy if you get two of the right connectors from radio shack, and it can use the same brackets that hold on the stock headlight.  It is also just as bright if not brigther than the stock one, good buy for $80.

Thanks to everyone here again, especially Pablo for his website, it helped a ton.

Nice bike, and welcome to the family.

The headlights/windshield is interesting.  How bright are the lights?

I was looking at some mirrors just like those on ebay.
Where did you get them and how much?

W00t BLITZ!!! I love em, I've made a few threads about em heh. Too bad they're not DOT approved, but they work so I'll take my chances. Hopefully the charge for have a non SAE/DOT approved headlight isn't too much, but what police officer is going to be able to tell??? Ya gotta paint it a nice glossy black. I'm assuming the light and bucket come out pretty easily? Can you give me a side profile?

I've never been a fan of that funky style headlight. I think the Buell dualy lights look better, IMO. To each their own. Different strokes for different folks.

cool headlight, i'm not sure about the windscreen though.  gotta love the nekkid blue 01 (that's what i have).
I was looking at my bike the other night and thought it might look neat if i could lower the stock headlight by a inch or two.  i'd have to get lower bars and remove my mini-screen though.
BTW, look into chopping your rear fender.  it makes a big difference.

It's called Metalic Abyss Blue...  It's pretty dark blue, but clearly blue in real life.

Most interesting... So I guess you'll be trying to find some of this Abyss Blue to paint the Blitz, or are you going to leave it as is?

Yes it is blue, definitlly not the super stealthy secret black.  I still haven't gotten to taking the white sticker off of the windscreen yet.  The windscreen doesn't actually provide any noticable windprotection, it still hits me about the diaphram.

I never thought about painting it to match the rest of the bike....interesting.

I'll get a side pic tomorrow for Narcissus.

Thanks everybody!!

Yep. metallic abyss blue (more like a blue-green in person...USA bikes, Canada bikes are actually more blue)

I got some color-matched spray paint from colorrite.com when I painted my little screen. looks really good color matched.

+1 on the 2001.

Nice.

you're welcome-glad it helped.

O so the white section is only a sticker? must make it pretty easy to get rid of eh? I'm torn between a Blitz and a Dash fairing, only reason I'm looking at the Dash is because I think its DOT approved unlike the sexy Blitz. But really how would notice that the Blitz isn't DOT approved???

I will definitly check that out Pablo.

Heres a couple pics of the blitz without the ugly white sticker on it, I think it looks better already.  And the side profile too.

I've been going back and forth on chopping the rear fender too, on one hand, its awful.  On the other hand, it's really handy for my parking stickers for work...  choices...

It look hot, I really like the size of it, adds streetfighter style  :thumb:  Are those the mounting brackets that came with it, or did you have to come up with something? And you're not worried about the headlight not being DOT approved?

Phew, I just don't feel like that headlight at all fits the style of the bike...  It just looks out of place.

My $.02
