So this is at a university? If so, you probably were given several breaks previously and the guard finally let you have it. Do they have designated parking spots at this dorm? If not, and you don't want to walk, sounds like it is time to stash the GS
behind the g/f's dorm
out of sight of the guard. Most universities allow bicycle parking where motorcycles cannot.
Glad to hear you've still got your ride. :thumb:
As someone who was once a supervisor in security, I can tell you we would have never towed a vehicle without making an effort to find the owner - and warn them - not to park there. Unless it was an Immediate safety concern.
As strange as this sounds security companies are starting to freak out about car bombs. I know, I know, - we haven't had this problem here in the USA - but it's coming. So anything out of the ordinary is suspect - even a motorcycle. To an ordinary Joe, that sounds like an over reaction but a Sucurity Officer's main focus (should be) is security and nothing else.
Had I been your security officer, I first would have put a Post It note on your speedo and warned you.
Quote from: budget speed demonthen the tow truck lady hands me a $30 parking ticket
Is the dorm on campus? I wouldn't think that you could get a parking ticket on what is essentially private property. :?
I've had problems with parking at my school (mainly ignorant ticket jockeys), so I just went and had a little chat with the head of parking. I had become large and GREEN (and I was wearing purple pants), so he listened to me. I got a good explanation of motorcycle parking rules, and when I have any problem I just go Buddha Loves You out the ticket people, and the problem is always solved. I suggest you do a bit of research on where and when you can park in what places on campus, and get it from the highest source possible. Best case is that you find out you were parked legally, and get reimbursed for the tow and ticket. Worst case, is you learn where you can park, and no more problems. Good Luck to you and my sympathy is with you.
I had my car towed when I went to LSU in baton rouge, La. $145 bucks so you got off easy, that and they nocked my fender out of alignment. When i got the owner to complain he starts telling me my car is a piece of shaZam! anyway so who cares. He then got his guys to use the device they used to move my car and guess what the foot pump lever thing swings up and smacks my fender. He gave me a card of a guy that "owes him a favor" I fixed it myself wanting to be done w/ that guy. What a sleeze bag jackhole. The same companys tow guys beat up a friend of mine when he called them tow nazis.

Yeah my bike got towed, so I paid.
By cheque.
Which I cancelled once I had my bike back. :nana:
Not heared anything from them about that yet, and they've had 6 months to complain.

hahahaha nice. Last time my cage got towed they took cash only. Glad to hear you stuck it to them! :thumb:
Could have been worse... :dunno:
But, I totally understand why you're pissed. Parking tickets piss me off like nothing else. :x My friends are always picking on me 'cause I refuse to park where I shouldn't park... I REALLY hate parking tickets!
The last one I got, I was at a "friend's" house helping him move... He told me to park on the grass next to his house. I promptly pointed out the No Parking sign... He told me, "People have parked here every day for months and never had a parking ticket." So, like a dumb-ass, I parked there. I was waiting outside for him to open the side door... 20 min... 30 min... WTF?!? He was just running in to open the side door!!! So, in a huff I walked in to yell at him. Under 2 minutes later I was back outside to see my parking ticket!! :x No metermaid... In and out like an assassin in the night!!! :x I was so pissed, I yelled at him that he owed me the $60 for the ticket and I left. :x

Yeah, they were waiting for you to leave. Had it all written up behind the bush. Just had to drop it on the bike and leave. Sneaky Bastages.
I have gotten a few while on private property. Once for parking in guest parking when I was a student, once in a carpool spot (and I had carpooled!), and once when I went to work off duty and parked in normal people's spot. I usually just ignore them. For all they know it got lost in the wind on the freeway when I didn't see it.
I got a parking ticket for parking in a "Loading Zone 45 minutes Flashers on at all times" spot. On the ticket it said I needed my flashers on.
I was totally WTFing at the time, as I DON'T HAVE ANY f%$king FLASHERS. I took it to the transportation department here on campus and got it revoked. Asshats.

Should have told them they were on; It just takes a while to flash on bikes. Not as much power.
Or leave your turn signal on?

Can't leave the turn signal on because the key would have had to remain in the ignition. No chance of me doing THAT!
Ah, true.
You could leave the tail light on... :dunno: Then just bump-start when you get back.
Or... Next time, leave a note that says, "It's a bike... There are no flashers asshat!"

Hahaha. that'd be awesome. The Campus Cops around here can be total dicks though. There's a parking lot on campus that's for F permits only at all times (Faculty) but on Sundays there is maybe one car in the lot. I parked my bike in the very back corner away from EVERYONE (all 2 cars today) and got a ticket. I mean, damn, it isn't like I was impeding people's parking abilities in this lot. I parked there because it's right next door to my girlfriend's dorm.

Yeah. She's hot, smart, and fun as can be. I'm doubly lucky. She used to be a Catholic school girl.

But... Does she still have the uniform?

Catholic all-girls high school didn't make me a pervette, but it certainly helped to mold me into the pervette I am today! :thumb:

Yup! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)
She got stuck into all-girls Catholic schools pretty much every year. There were two and a half years she was at a public school, but it was inconsequential.
Dang it, where are the photos?

There's the one picture y'all get of her in the "Post a pic of your girlfriend/wife/etc" thread.
