Hello. I just registered as I'm investigating the plausibility of a GS500 engine/tranny powering a super budget custom chopper for something different. Has anyone ever done this?
Somethign about the GS twin speaks to me.
Has anyone ever posted a recording of the GS500 idleing/running with a V&H pipe? I tried to search but didn't find anything.

Sound clips, too.
And for the chopper, searching for "GS* chopper" turned up this old thread I had forgotten about.

I'm an idiot. I looked at that page but missed the links. Thanks.

Not quite what I was thinking.
Seriously though the GS500 engien look sright for a chopper. It's aircooled, has finned cyllinders and isn't a typical HD engine.

I thought that is why it WOULDN'T work for a chopper... The whole V-twin thing seems to be a necessity.

There are lots of Yami XS650 and Triumph 650 twin powered choppers out there, they just don't get coverage. I am a Suzuki fan so it makes sense to me.
And it's only a nessecity if you follow the heard. Which I'v enever done in anythign I do, or have done.
Isn't there a picture of a cruiser looking framed bike with GS engine in it on the members pictures??????
I know I seen one somewhere.

I try to make the same with USD Fork and frame from the BMW in the moment.
When finished, I show you the Bike.

nah, but when you have a 3.5"bore or better, its best to vtwin it to keep it narrow in the frame, otherwise you have the moto guzzi look, or Beemer Airhead look. this is where i wish i had my TIG/MIG machines and a degree in engineering for custom frame building like this.

Now THAT's what I'm talking about!! :thumb:
shouldn't be too hard - there's a guy on the 250R forum w/ a 250 powered chopper
a gs powered chopper is not as far fetched as some think back in the late 70's and early 80 budget choppers were the thing man , ive seen several , as a matter of fact a freind of mine owns a local car lot and was big intoo this concept of rice powered choppers. he as several of them he sold another good freind of mine a kz 1100 powered chopper its 9 foot long and hell of a lot faster then any hd or vtwin chopper around , note you do have the massive engine to burn your leg every 5 seconds but other than that it was actually pretty popular back when. Just thought i would share this with ya.
Dude just step up and slap a TL1000 (R or S it doesn't matter) motor into a capable 'chopper' chassis and have fun. Its been done but not much, and has to be real fun.
A chopper with a TL motor would be sweet, if you built it right that baby
could moooove. (in a straight line of course)
A GS motor in a chopper I'd like to see too, just cus I'm a GS fan of course.
Is that a 2 cycle expansion pipe on the GS chopper? :?
