Title: Winter refit blues.
Post by: red_phil on November 09, 2005, 08:24:20 AM
Well it's that time of year again.

My bikes MOT is out of date so I have to get a new one.
Before I can get one there is some3 work I need to do and other work I
might as well do while I'm in there.

Job List
Oil Change
Replace rear shock (I got a GSX 600 F one)
Fork seal replacement
Measure fork brace bolts and make a brace template.
Carb cleaning
Fit inline fuel filter.
Lube clutch & throttle cables.
Balance carbs.
Valve gap check
Fix exhaust leaks (JB weld??)
Paint exhaust.
new front tyre.
Check brake pads.
Clean under sprocket housing and look for leak.
Clean air filter.
Retouch paintwork as required.
Arrange MOT.

for the MOT I could probably get away with just doing ;
Replace rear shock
Fork seal replacement
Lube clutch & throttle cables.
Fix exhaust leaks (JB weld??)
new front tyre.
Check brake pads.

I guess I'm off the road for a week or so  :(
Why does wrenching seem to take me longer than anyone else?

I've now changed the oil but have a slow leak from the oil filter cover when the engine is running. I'm kinda scared to tighten the cover anymore as I've heard how easy those studs are to break.

Oh no, it's not just you...

On the oil filter cover, I'd just loosen and check with a toothpick, or a small allen wrench, to see if the o-ring maybe snuck out of its groove.
