Title: If you are looking for lowering links...
Post by: MStarmer on November 12, 2005, 07:26:35 PM
I have been looking for a decent set of links for my wifes 04' GS500F and haven't had much luck.  I didn't want to make my own and didn't get much help from alot of the manufacturers.  I searched ebay and found some that were interesting and e-mailed a seller back and forth for awhile including dimensioning my existing link to see if they had something adaptable.  To my suprise they did make one which appeared to be an exact fit!  Rec'd them last week and had them installed in short order.  These babies can be stock to +1 or -4 in 1.00 inch increment.  They seem to be as well made as any and installed with no difficulty.

The part number I used was LL6007 and here's a link to his website.  http://www.sledesigns.com/

The only thing I noticed is that the center stand contacts the link while on the side stand but not when the suspension is "loaded" with a rider.  I can live with that, if it bothered someone I'm sure it could be trimmed.  I am not affiliated with the seller, just happy someone could help.  Between the seat mod and 1" drop she rides with alot more confidence and can still use the side stand and centerstand without modification.  The center is a little tougher but we can live with it.

Thanks to this website for lot's of help, even did the first service ourselves and saved some cash.

I went through the same thing with my wife. Unfortunately I had to fabricate the links because I couldn't find any one making them. or knowledge of what would fit.

I lowered the bike about an inch and a half. I went ahead and bought another side stand and had a local shop cut and weld a new base on it. That way I can return to stock easy. As for the center stand (I kept it on for chain maintenance) I back the rear tire up on to a 2x4 and then use the stand normally. Makes it easier for the lift.

The only problem is I can't ride the bike now. Well if I do I have to take it easy in the turns because I can drag the center stand.
