nun racing?
horse racing?
QuoteEverybody likes racing, even if you have to be a participant instead of a spectator
Ok you got me there, i guess im a closet dragger, as i feel like every stoplight is a racing tree
I like motorcycle racing the best. Those guys have so much skill it's freaky. F1 after that, followed by rally racing. Rally racing takes balls to do, I think. Sliding around corners with a cliff on one side and a rock wall on the other... Freaky.
1. Motorcycle racing.
2. Indy car but only because I thought Danica was hot, but I think someone else is way hotter now.
3. NASCAR- but only because Tony Stewart is a family friend.

who might that be?
I am not really into racing of any sorts, honestly. Never have been. However, I have watched monster truck racing once or twice with friends..its kinda cool to watch..motorcycle racing is OK too. But I don't really get into racing for the most part. :dunno:
Formula 1 followed very clocely by MotoGP.
there is no such thing anymore as "motorcycle racing" there's motoGP and there's dirt. two completly different worlds.
crapcar, isn't racing. it's marketing for rednecks. in real racing you turn right and left.
drag racing, my pee pee is smaller tan yours....
forulma 1 my wallet is bigger than yours.
indy. wannabe forulma 1
rallys that's whare a man and his machine are pitted against a man and his machine. the rest are just childs games involving money.
and I for one am personally insulted that you whould limit bikes to one catagory in the poll.

Amen! For once I find myself agreeing with Davipu. This is scary...
I've never really seen the point in racing. So you're faster than me or I'm faster than you. So what?
Of course, I'm not much into the whole driving/riding thing anyhow. I'd rather build it than race it. With all the restrictions they have these days it really cramps creativity and originality.
Oh... Wait a minute... There is one kind of racing I like. Reno unlimited power.

Every so often I hear NASCAR calling itself the "World's fastest motorsport." They're about 4,000 HP and 350MPH short.
I watch too much racing on TV. I think for me it goes in the following order:
1. MotoGP or AMA road racing
2. WRC
3. NASCAR
What I can't watch is drag racing in any way. Just way too boring for me.
I watch a little bit of all of them... NASCAR gets pretty boring after a short while... Rally Racing and Moto keep my interest the longest.
Local conference racing, because I actually know the people involved and crew for a couple. Otherwise - who the heck is that guy?
I do think Rossi is very cute and can ride like nobody else, but I sincerely doubt I'll ever meet the guy.
I can't watch any "drive fast, turn left" race on TV for more than 3 minutes or so. While I appreciate that there's facinating strategy to NASCAR, Indy and the like, it just doesn't seem to translate to the broadcast, where they seem much more interested in sensationalizing the crashes. *shrug*
I'm a Formula 1 guy- although I do agree with Davidpu: It is a "My wallet is bigger than yours game". Another thing is that there is barely any passing; something they're looking into remedying by changing the aerodynamics rules this season- although they try to vamp it to allow more passing every season to no avail.
After that comes MotoGP, then WRC.
Nascar is quite possibly the worst racing I have ever even tried to watch. My clock sees more action than a nascar race.
7) none of the above
Where's the 'I'd rather be racing' option?
Quote from: scratchWhere's the 'I'd rather be racing' option?
I realized that I should have added that option after the first reply was submitted but I can't figure out how to edit the poll
I agree with you guys about NASCAR though, I just put it up there because I thought a lot of people would be mad that I didn't
I once raced a girl for a date :P She was a pretty blonde that run track when she was in high school, and I was/still just a fat guy. haha. But I told her that if we race and I win, I get to take her out. If we race and she won, I'd never ask her out again.
........I won ;) We dated for several months. :thumb:
How much did you win by? (aka did she let you win? ;) )
I watch family members race to the 'fridge for beer. :nana:
To those who don't see the point of racing here are just a couple off the top of my head:
For drivers/riders : Money, money, money, fame, fun, fun, challenge, crumpet.
Manufacturers: Money, sales, the developments in new technologies to be filtered into production cars particularly Ferrari, Audi, Porsche.
Tracks and race organisers : sponsor dollars, ticket sales, satisfaction at a job well done.
And when it comes to me racing, well, I am too poor so I race radio controlled cars.
I really can't stand to watch any type of sport on TV. If I had to watch something it would be Rally, Drag and Motorcycle racing, and baja racing.
If I am there watching it in person I would pretty much watch about anything, but Nascar. I can't watch people go around in circles.
I have competed in Drag racing and ATV racing before and loved it. My dream would be to run my car flat out on couple mile road course with a straight stretch to get up to at least 120 and enough corners to blow my mind. :thumb:
Formula One is where its at!
The technology is AMAZING. Those cars are more akin to fighter planes than to cars. Ive seen the 2005 Williams up close and everywhere you look on the car there is some kind of aero element or diffuser. Truly beautiful machines. Tho it is kind of a whos got the bigger wallet game. But lately the teams with the biggest budgets have not done much. IIRC B.A.R Honda had the largest budget in 2005 and were struggling to compete with Renault and Mclaren. It really comes down to a good wind tunnel and having some of the best Aero engineers in the world working for you.
And the lack passing? This year had some of the best passing Ive ever seen in F1. Alonzo and Kimi showed some major skill and big b@lls several times. And lets not forget that lots of this technology finds its way to the streets at some point. that really is the reason these major car makers sink so much money into the sport.
There is nothing like the sound of an F1 car in person. It's not just that it's loud; it's such a complex sound that it swamps your ability to hear any other sound. Magnificent.
Too bad there's so much bullcrap in F1. Last year really turned me off of it. And now the V-8s will ruin the one good thing that was left.
I do have a soft spot in my heart for Jarno Trulli ever since I saw a magazine article with a pic of him wearing only a helmet.
Ya um tell me about the F1 bullcrap!!!! It was crazy.

dingdingding good answer
I used to love NASCAR about 5 years ago and have grown to hate it. If I watch more than 5 minutes I literally get angry. These are supposed to be "stock cars"? OK! Seems like the majority of the drivers hate the two road courses...can't be turning right now can we?? It just seems sooo boring :dunno: Hell, you trade paint with someone and you pratically get fined. An obsenity on your teams radio...that'll cost ya! Give your competitor the finger for sending you into the wall...can't have that now! Cautions for everything, heck if the driver sneezed I think they would throw the caution. Ok, I'm done now :bs:
I watch all the AMA classes that SPEED shows - Superbike, Supersport, Superstock, Formula Extreme - as well as MotoGP. I just can't get into the FIM Superbike/superstock classes no matter how much I try. AMA SB this year was pretty much the Matt Mladin show, but the other 3 classes were pretty close all year long.
NHRA, honestly, I try to watch but it's not too interesting. I do like the Pro Stock bikes though - saw someone qualified at 7.000 @ 185+ at Pamona a few weeks ago but never watched the rest of the race to find out if a bike finally went 6's
NASCRAP? Please. I may live in the MidWest now but I still have all my teeth and I like racing that makes left and right turns :D
Formula 1/Indy/Cart-Whatever - no interest at all
You know what I find f%$king hilarious about NASCAR? It's called a "Stockcar" race, but the only thing that these cars share with their roadworthy brethren is namesake only. They use iron block V-8s, old skool chassis design, and suspension that doesn't even come close to the road cars'.
You know what the rules for AMA Superstock (1000cc) and AMA Supersport (600cc) are? You can add a pipe and you can change the ECU. That's pretty much it. I'd say that's a damn good example of a STOCK vehicle racing. AMA Superbike, on the other hand, uses heavily modified (engine work, fuel mapping, exhaust, suspension, brakes, the works) motorcycles. Those are SUPERBIKES though.
I f%$king hate NASCAR.
Im really looking forward to the V8s. Cosworth and Renault and im sure other teams by now are reporting 20k RPMS and expecting 25k(!!!!) RPMS by the start of the season. 20k is getting into superbike RPMS!
This is Formula One.. Look at the aero rules and tire regs this past season all ment to slow the sport down.. Some of the fastest lap times ever were set this season.. I really dont think you can slow these guys down no matter what rules the FIA sets forth. It will only get faster.
Im watching the brand new BMW factory team next season. No more relying on Williams for a car. BMW thinks they have what it takes to build both a hard core V8 and a race winning monocaulk. They admit they may start out slow, But ive been behind the wheel of a BMW M5. That car makes me want to cry tears of joy! Though I understand the M5 is a V10. but im sure BMW wont have too much trouble with the V8.
Next season should be a blast with a few new teams joining the grid and the sport going back to being able to change tires on every stop. (I however was a huge fan of the no tire change rule.)
Since this has mainly turned into a NASCAR bash, I want to bash F1 for a little bit (If you look at my origanal post though you will see that I still prefere F1 to NASCAR) :thumb:
All I need to do is say one thing: 2005 U.S Gran Prix
I mean, come on Michilen, you brought good tires the other 4 or 5 times you raced at the track, the track is unchange including the last corner. You can't blame Ferrari because you can't expect them to give special treatment to the non-Bridgestone teams just becauset they have a crappy tire.
Anyways, it will probably be the last time we will ever see a Minardi car on the podium ever again. :)
Of course it will be the last time a Minardi will/was ever on the podium, they are now the new Red Bull team. And the same can be said for Jordan, they also have new owners and as of next year they will be known as Midland.
With F1 it's not just the racing and the cars that get ya. It's also the soap opera that goes on between the races. :)

Some shots from past Canadian Grand Prix races we've attended. The second set is my favorite (2003 Canadian GP) because we got to meet the drivers and you can see how close we got to the cars.
Nothing compares to the feeling of an F1 car blowing by you wide open throttle.... nothing I've ever experienced before. The tech is amazing, and the drivers are incredible.
I'd hav to say:
1) Grand Am
2)Any AMA event
3)SCCA or Speedchannel Challenge
Come on you gotta give it up to cars that still look and sound like actual road cars, and the whole privateer side to all these styles of racing.
what sucks is now-a-days speed channelis or it seems like 90%NASCRAP stuff on. hell change it from speed channel to nascrap tv or something like that whoopty friggin doo :guns: :guns: :guns: NASCAR
