hey all, i work on an ambulance and this weekend they asked me to cover the grand prix races at lake elsinore in southern california. i thought it would be a kick back day where i just watched racing all day, but i got hammered! anyway, i'm not really into dirtbiking, but it was awesome to watch a race so close up! really a great day where everyone was on two wheels and celebrating. that being said, there were many guys who went down. i guess the course is pretty rooted in tradition but unfortunately it has many sharp turns at the edge of pretty high cliffs. needless to say, a few people went over, and a couple got seriously injured. i noticed a lot of things about the integrity of gear. there is a big difference in MX gear and i was VERY disappointed in their gear. one guy had a chest protector and still hit his chest hard enough to suffer a pneumothorax. another guy had some rocking a* boots but of course broke his leg just above where the boot ended. oh well, i will always trust my leathers over that mesh stuff. all in all it was a great weekend to be a biker, i just wish i could've taken my gs on some of those turns and sweet jumps!

I was there too. My neighbor rode one race and his friend rode the last pro race. The big jump was pretty cool. It was a good day for racing.
