I was checking out a small screen today. It's made for a Monster, but it'll fit just fine on the GS. It's brushed aluminum with metal mounting brackets and a lightly tinted screen. Not too tall, but I think it'll do what I want... Move the freezing air and rain off my chest. It's $150 and not painted...
Here are some (crappy) pics of it... What do you think? (Click for bigger pics)

It's whether you like it or not that counts. I think it doesn't fit the headlight enough aesthetically.
Might as well try to stick the SV bikini one on, too, and see if you like it.
it'll go great with yoru leather pants....

You mean the curve in the opening? 'cause it's not actually attached... It's just sitting on top...
The new parts guy (apparent defender of GS500s and other small motos (and apparent hater of squids)) told me of some brand they can order, but my goldfish memory didn't bother to keep it for the 3 miles from there to my house... Something like momo, but not momo... :(

Are you saying it's ghey?

These are funny things....I don't like them if they're too big or too small...they've gotta fit just right!
So, I guess no one likes it on there... :dunno:

Well, I was hoping for some feedback... But, judging from the feedback I got, nobody likes it on there...
So, there's my feedback. :thumb:
as long as it does what you want, who cares what it looks like? :thumb:
It's probably look better if it was painted to match the bike.
If you paint it to match and have it sit on there better, it would look a lot better. It's kinda big, but it looks better than the F-16/F-18 screens out there, I think. It's got the ability to have some color to it. I like the one that's on the monster better, personally, but that one isn't all that bad.

That's about where I am...
I just can't find one that I actually want... This one is close...
I was kinda thinking about one like
this, but I don't know if it would fit or how it would look... Plus, I don't really want a dark tint. :dunno:
I think it looks good. I prefer the 2001+ style though, as I installed. check my website for pics...
I think it looks pretty cool, something different. I'd paint it to match your bike though. :thumb:
Yeah... Painting it would probably make it look better... I'm wondering about the light screen against the dark blue... :dunno:
Too bad the pic sucks so bad, I could Photoshop it and check it out...
when I installed mine I had it painted silver, like the frame and I didnt like it as much as painted to match the body color (2001 blue).
I like the Givi one that is out there that Givi doesn't admit exists on their site better.
Edit - the one Pandy has on her '92.
get a GIVI like on my Avatar
What year is that Monster screen from? It doesn't look like the screens on the Monster's now, which I really like.
I've never really liked the style of screen you linked, RVertigo. Sure it's classic and retro, but the GS doesn't have lines to match it. It looks out of place. I can understand it on an old Triumph or Beemer, or even a Honda CBX, but the '01+ GS looks fairly modern. I like the one you got now over the "retro" one that was linked.
I think the screen is for pre-01s...
I don't think I've seen the one on Pandy's '92...
The Givi one is pretty pricey... I guess I could look for a used one, but it's not quite what I want either... Too bad I don't really know what I want. :(
And yeah... I'm guessing the old-style cafe one look goofy.
I saw the monster screen on Pablo's site - is it very effective?
It just moves the air up a little more... Less on your chest. That's pretty much why I want one, to move the rain and freezing air a little higher up... Give me more of a fighting chance. :thumb:
It does look good :)
now if I could only decide on what bike to buy
Get a Nekid GS500 :thumb:

RVertigo what about the National Cycle (http://www.accwhse.com/national.htm)F-16

Like we discussed earlier, Bluebellylint, this looks WAAAAY better than that thing! :P :P

:dunno: I have a friend who's offered me a good deal on another 500 but I still don't know
Ducati also makes one like this for the Monster
(http://www.whaccessories.com/MET_Ducati_S4_Windshield.jpg)
I like it better than your first choice.
Yeah... I liked the F-16 until I saw it in person... Now, not so much.
I like the one I found better than the '01+ monster one...
I kinda like the Targa (http://www.targa-acc.com/cgi-bin/products.cgi?name=upc_code&format=3&value=24-890S) one too...
(http://photobucket.com/albums/d84/suzukigs500/th_002.jpg) (http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d84/suzukigs500/002.jpg)
But, like the Monster and the Givi... It's expensive. :( $250-$350 is more than I want to spend... Which is what's cool about the F-16... Only $80 or something.
yeah the F-16 is actually only $60 and I have always liked the look, but have never seen it in person. :dunno:
your choice though
They have an F-16 and the other one... F-18? down at Ducati Seattle. The whole thing is plastic, including the mounts. I'd hate to spend $60 (or $80) on something only to crack it when I put it on.
I just looks kinda flimsy, you know? :dunno:
yeah, I guess you usually get what you pay for

Get a faired GS500. Do you really want to run around nekkid in a Midwestern winter? :)
The only prob w/ the faired (fairinged? lol) ones are price and I haven't found any GS's for sale local to me. I did find two of the other brand's 500 for $3000 obo - a 98 w/ 3800 miles and an 05 w/ 17oo miles for the same price. I really wanted to wait til after the winter but bikes are cheap this time of year :D
The bikini screens look neat but do little. I've ordered Givi's for both my GS and my Monster. Was quite happy at the fit and function. Now i have a Givi Airstream on my monster. Bigger than a bikini but on cold days or at speed; i can tuck myself in on the bike and ride with minimal turbulence.
