Holy crap!!
Crashes, hit a railing, flew over the railing, managed to get her helmet off in the freezing cold water, swam to shore... all that and they're giving her a ticket for failure to maintain control of vehicle to avoid collision.
Some of my coworkers were commenting on this. Someone said it happens about once a year. The first question is usually: "how many times did you skip across the water?"
The only way I can see that happening is if she panicked and stood it up, then ran it into the barrier. That's failure to maintain control and avoid collision. Lean it 'til you lowside - and then you won't get thrown off into the lake...
They could have considered her lesson learned by the experience and skipped the ticket, though!
Ya the ticket is a bit overboard
If I were that chick, I'd take it to court and fight it!!! :x
No kidding... Like getting all her gear ruined, her leg broken, her bike smashed up, and nearly dying isn't enough to "teach" her... They just had to give her a ticket.
It is indeed bizarre. I'm wondering if it's a lawsuit thing - to keep someone from suing the city, or something like that.
thats weird, two other sources say she was fine, with only cuts and bruses...

She was on a DRZSM :thumb:
It still looks like she panicked and stood it up, but she won't say it.
"Reid said that perhaps she hit a white painted stripe on the off ramp. "It was damp outside," she said, and maybe that caused her bike to skid."
You hit the white, you're already in the middle of losing it...
