Title: cargo net - scratched paint?
Post by: snowey on November 23, 2005, 10:04:23 AM
A few days ago I installed a cargo net I bought at a bike shop on my gs and have been using it to carry my backpack.

I just noticed some scratches/chipped paint on my gs500.  I have only had the bike for ~3 weeks so I don't know if I just never noticed the scratches before.   Could it be that my cargo net is tearing up the paint on my back fender?

When I try to rub the net material on the paint nothing happens, and the net itself feels clean and soft.

scheizze!

A net under tension and being rubbed against the paint will scuff it.

A good (and regular) waxing should provide some protection.

the rubber coated hooks will wear thru and scratched mine up. but my bike isnt perfect so whatever. I wrapped the ends of the hooks in electrical tape to help prevent it. I assume you mean the hooks not the elastic, i dunno how elastic could chip paint.

Probably the metal hook did it.

the hooks are plastic and they are firmly attached to the little rail thing under the tail

Resize your avatar.  If the text is getting squished on the right, the avatar is too big, and it makes threads annoying to read.
