I recently managed to loose roughly 40 lbs. Im 6'3" and down to about 185-190 from 235.
Now ive come accross a problem. Its getting to be kind of annoying...I have alot of loose skin.....
Im only 20 and ive been told it will go away, tighten up what have you. My stretch marks from a while ago are all bunched up, and im all like skinny (not thin just alot of loose skin) Its really irritating.
I was wondering if there is anything at all I can do. Its kinda disheartening to loose all that weight and start lifting, only to have a body that looks like my torso is trying to melt off me, lol. Thanks in advance to anyone who has any ideas.
(tummy tucks not included, i made it this far without surgery, im not startin now)
Shoulder is healing well BTW. Especially with weight lifting, ive managed to strengthen it up again. However, I have to go see an ortho surgen tomorrow for a consult. Seems there is an odd bone sticking out where it shouldnt be so I need to get it looked at, that and my shoulder blade sticks out of my back in a regular standing position, thats odd.
I once lost about 40lbs or more - but it was over a few months time, and I was a teenager. I didn't have this problem you describe at all, BUT, I wasn't very heavy at that time. I lost the weight because I was very sick. It sounds like you are loosing weight too fast. :dunno: Maybetry building some muscle, instead of just loosing fat.
I have a friend who has done this, in his 40s, he looked a lot worse to start with in the way you describe. I does sort itself out and eventualy nature will take care of the spare skin etc. it took a couple of years but now twenty-odd years on that guy looks better and fitter than before he lost the weight. Sensible diet, fruit and a bit of exercise, walking or swimming is all it takes and you'll be great.
If you're lifting use creatine, it adds alot of water weight and might help the elastin protein with all that extra water.

Wow, I wouldn't have thought 235 was THAT much on a 6.3 frame.
Man, I'm 6.0 and 175.
you could just put the weight back on...

i've talked to a friend who's a doctor...there's some truth in what is said in the article. basically, a tummy tuck isn't the only answer.
It should go away eventually with time. I lost about 60 lbs. a few years ago at your same age. Congratulations by the way on the weight loss.

heres the real question...
How'd ya do it?!
I did roughly the same thing. I'm about 6'3'' and was about 275. No wonder I needed to replace the stock shock with the SV's. As I lost it getting down to 220, I had this flap over my belt(great visual!). It eventually went away, but I think it was just an extra 4 or 5 pounds that just took the longest to lose, it's exactly where I gain it back when slacking. - Oh yeah my riding jacket is about two sizes too big now too.
if you think you are fat and are thinking about weight loss, I have one advice to you:
nobody cares! (except you of course)
here... eat healthy (lots of vegetables), do some sort of exercise (walk, use bicycle or something, every once in a while), sleep enough hours and take enough breaks from the computer.
This way, you might become skinny, or you may become fatty. And that's how you are supposed to be. what? you tought everybody was supposed to look the same all fit and stuff? well, I have a bit of news, something called: human diversity.
The only thing not normal is struggling and trying to force your body into something you are not to begin with.
Then again, eat chips, lots of chocolate and MRDonald or whatever, and you will be fit (given that you spend hours and hours at the gym), but your inside will be full with crap (literally).
Eat healthy, exercise, sleep, and you will become your real you. all you have to do then is accept it.
A friend of mine made a comment about my body type right before he shipped out. We somehow got ont he topic of body types, and i mentioned I wish i had his (skinny kid pretty active, but not alot of muscle) he said he would kill for mine. I asked him why, and he said that the way I look would be great if I gained some muscle mass, and lost a little weight, and that some people would never have the chances I have.
Since then I had decided to work out regularly, and eat better. Since then ive lost quite alot of weight, and gained muscle mass. Now I just need to keep lifting and start running I guess....
hmm...could it be that simple? what if real you are not healthy.? what then?
i think the key is doing enough that you stay healthy. some might have to try harder, and some might not have to try at all. that is the human diversity in us.
i drink more than i burn. thats my prob. im 5'10 and 165. a month ago i was 150. something aint right.. i started utilizing my gym membership last week. so far i went twice. im not motivated enough i guess i.e. there arent enough cute girls at 5pm at the gym..

hope it turns out well. my broken collarbone is healing slowly-too slowly for my taste...bike is put back together and waiting for me...
good luck and congrats on the weight loss.

When I was in the service, there were all the skinny, lanky kids that could run forever, and then there were those of us who bulked up like mad, but couldn't run worth a damn. I could do push-ups endlessly, but my 2-mile time was barely adequate.
I'm 5'9", and at my lowest adult weight was around 170 (when I was in the service). I was always over the Army's max weight for my height, so I was frequently required to get measured for body fat, which I was always way under. I recall figuring out that in order for me to make the 'target' weight of 150, I'd have to be below 8% body fat. Unlikely.
Unfortunately, being a large framed individual works both ways...I can really pack on excess pounds if I'm not careful. Within a couple of months of getting out of the service I probably put on 15 pounds...but I went from running 3-6 miles every day and hitting the gym 5 days a week to sitting around doing nothing. After being out of the military for over 15 years, I was up to about 225...which wasn't working for me. So a couple years ago I figured I needed to get back in some form of shape (and no, not "pear-shape") and dropped about 25-30 pounds in a few months. Now I run about 3 miles a few times a week (and I -hate- running). I've been at 190 or so for a year or two, which is right around where I was 10 years ago. Ideally, I'd like to drop another 10-15 pounds, but I'm currently in a situation where I don't have a lot of time to hit the gym...and did I mention how much I hate running?
