I am thinking of getting a Vance and Hines Supersport system.  And I know it' highly recommende to re-jet.  If I were to have my bike re-jetted by a dealer (on average) how much do they charge?

Too much.  And it's all labor.

The only materials you need are jets, which are $5 at the worst, and the myriad writeups (with pictures) that have been posted here.

I paid a shop (not a dealer) about $150 for jetting and a dyno tune. They also went over the bike with a torque wrench and made sure everything was tight. I think they charged me $50 or $60 per carb.

uhh, becarful though, I wouldn't F with carbs if I didn't know what I was doing, way to easy to mess stuff up in there.

I'd pick up a Clymer.  Very useful, and has a lot of pics as well.

here at the dealership it's $75 an hour labor rate...So you figure atleast 3hours of labor + parts I would say your in the "$200 range by the time you figure in taxes and misc. hidden charges :lol: sounds like a phone bill

I rejetted my 92' knowing nothing and armed with a few hayes manual pictures of the entire carb set-up. It was very easy to do [given you have some mechanical knowledge and under stand the principals behind what you are doing]. The only hitch I ran into was that the jets were brass and very very tight. I ended up gouging up the first main jet pretty bad till I got the bright Idea that it was time for a new screw driver :mrgreen:  the second one was easy to remove.

Then on re-assembly that took awhile because I doubled and trippled checked all the lines and connections.....To my suprise the bike started right up and rumbled to life like it's good ol' self. I set the mixture screw and the bike has been good to go ever since.

if you fear the jets then let the dealership do it. However since they charge labor it might be cheaper to just bring in the carb assembly then your looking at 15minutes of labor and to set the mixture screw another 10. So call them and ask about a pricing.....

i rejeted and added a v&h pipe in around 2hours i droped the carb boles and swaped out the bole screws with ss allen bolts.    the jets cost me 10 bucks.    you will have to take off the starter cover and cut the handle down on a screw driver to make it fit.    see ya

I got my FZ rejetted and dyno'ed for $180.  Not every place will rip you off.

If you're willing to learn yourself, which you should try (it cost the same to have a shop tune it, whether you made it worse or not), you can look to spending about $20 for just  buying jets and rubbers, or $100 or so for a factory pro kit which would cover all three major stages.

A nifty tip for getting jets, when you're cycle-yard shopping, don't hesitate to pop off a jet or two while you're browsing.  There was one joint in Houston I went into that I litereally picked up a good two dozen various mains just lying on the ground down the alleys.  I also grab fuses and loose metric bolts, too...always handy...
