Ey guys. Know this is general bike, and not directly GS500.
Anyone ever ride a Seca 750? Is the thing just hard to shift or what? I rode two so far and they are both hard on the toes, but this bike that I have is hell. I mean I put a fricken DENT in my steeltoe and my left foot toes are killing me. Anyone else ride a bike that was like that? I am sure its not the trans. Might be the clutch not fully disengaging I have a feeling though....
Well, you should be able to shift without the clutch by holding semi-light pressure up on the shifter and *bliping* the throttle down...
Is it just as hard to shift with and without using the clutch?
I don't know about that. But I rode a Seca Turbo 650 and it was fun as hell. Shifted smoothly, too.
I am not familiar with the bike but the first thing I would do is check the oil.
sounds like the shift forks are bent
i thought about all of those but the bent shift forks comment. it did not occur to me to check. (derf... bonehead...) i will have to check that out. thing that bugs me though is the other 750 that I rode was nearly as hard. i agree though, it should shift smooth.
I have a maxim 650, the seca's little brother, its only hard to shift while under power or deceleration. i think its the fact its shaft drive and less driveline slop. but they also have crap transmissions.
while your at it, check the oil make sure it wasnt thinned out by fuel or just a supper light weight oil.
shibby. yea. turns out it was the oil weight. thanks bk. btw.. whats your icon from?
That is Gally, its a screen shot from a CG movie short from "Battle Angle" in the Motorball statium.
