Title: Isle-of- Man T T races comming to Cape Breton Canada
Post by: surlybruce on December 14, 2005, 01:01:12 PM
I just got word from down home that  T T [Tourist Trophy ] races are comming to NOVA SCOTIA in september 2006. I think it would be great if we could get a bunch of GS 500 nuts together and race for fun.You will not find such a hive of such scum and villinary anywhere! The people who run the Isle-of-Man T T races are working with Nova Scatia tourism to make this happen. You folkes will not find better twists and turns and the scenery is bitchin too. The people in Cape Breton like to party and can go all night also 5 minitues after they meet you they in invite you " over to the house" for "a feed and a taste of shine" . The closed course is 52 kms long and I beleve you race the clock in your class.More info can be found at  Cape Breton Festival of Speed . ca I know I WILL BE THERE putting the hammer down WILL YOU !

I'm in Lr. Sackville so luckily I'm not gonna have to come up from Yarmouth to get to the event like yourself lol. Just going from here to Sydney in one day is gonna be enough highway for me. Theres someone else on the board who lives near Kentville who has a GS also, maybe we can get a group together  8)  If I still hav the GS in my possession that is.

I'm up for it... Yeah I've already convinced my friend (Should have an 800cc  Volusia) to head down there with me and I expect it to snowball as more people hear about it. You're right though, 8 hours is going to be one helluva ride. I did it this last August in a car and it wasn't as bad as I thought it would be -- I'll get a nice gel saddle and stop at every Tim Hortons I see, no problem...

I'll PM you with details as things pan out.

Later.

Should be a good trip. I know someone with an 800 Volusia who is thinking about going as well haha. In the beginning I just thought it'd be me and my buddy on his SV650S but it looks like we might have quite a few Zukis heading up that way...

A Cape Breton TT would be stellar!!  Too bad it's not a loop of the Cabot Trail.  Imagine 180 miles versus the 37 that the Isle of Man runs.   :thumb:

Lol the Cabot Trail might make for some pretty brutal crashes... Plummiting to their doom must not sound fun for the racers.

We really should all meet up around Truro or New Glasgow though, then make our way up to Sydney. Theres no doubt in my mind we'll meet up with other huge groups of bikes though, 100ish doesn't sound too unrealsonable. I remember goign to PEI a few years ago where they were having some sort of HD rally and I saw a group of about 70 goin arcoss the Confederation Bridge, so an event liek a TT race should attract even more  8)

True, a mistake on some of those curves would eliminate that person from future competitions, permanently.

The 'Trail is best taken at a comfortable pace.  An awesome road.  :)

There is now a official site for the event. You can find it here

http://cbfestivalofspeed.com

It's a bit scarce as far as content, however lists all the race times and places to see while you're there.

No solid plans, but definatly going. See u there.

I'm down to meet up with a bunch of gs-ers. I wouldn't mind meeting up with some of you and riding the entire trip together. For now it seems like it's gonna be me on my gs, my buddy on his newly acquired gsxr400 and my cousin on his vf500f, and possibly his friend with an RZ350. (well I'm hoping at least) If you guys don't mind riding with that crowd then I say we all meet up and form one big happy gs posse.  we could do it in stages too. Say for instance the people coming up from the US (if there are any) could meet up with a few of us in Toronto, and then we could meet up with a few other people in Quebec or wherever it's convenient. It's a nice long ride and a scenic one I'm told so I think it would be a lot of fun.

Good idea. There is also a ferry which comes over from Maine straight into NS. About 10 hour ride to Cape B from where you land. Great pizza joints, tons of places to camp ... and brain eating zombies.

Argh... I just woke up from a wonderful dream -- What a [proverbial] kick in the pants! So the Canadian Motorcycle Association are withdrawing from the TT races this September in Cape Breton due to "delays in necessary information being provided to the CMA as a sanctioning body and to the insurer of the event." This means no insurer and 6.6k of tarmac that remains to be touched up. Bummer!

Yeah sucks.  Its stuff like this that makes me want to find one of those nearly deserted towns you see "for sale" out west, buy it, elect myself mayor/sheriff of that county and develop a TT course. And then promote it as the Isle of Mann of the west...

Maybe when I win the lotto.... :icon_rolleyes:
