Title: Flanges or Case guards.
Post by: The Buddha on December 14, 2005, 02:14:30 PM
OK What next ... I'd need 20 + for either, and 4 bolt or 3 bolt flanges, and 2 point or 3 point guards, yea need 20 per ... BTW I can incorporate sliders as well into guards 2 or 3 point and no I cannot make flanges with sliders    . I anticipate getting some time in the new year (yes getting I'm fired - again) ... Anticipate Early Jan for design and mid to end jan for finish and ship out. Flanges may skip the design stage altogether ... since ... well it will only be the 100th one I'll be making.
Cool.

Sorry to hear about losing your job. :(
I would be very very very interested in 3 point case guards.

Are you planning on making the fame sliders removable?
I think if you dumped the bike and scratched up the sliders, it would be nice to be able to change them out. Most sliders are a standard diameter aren't they?

oo oo case guards oo ooo!

I'll get a set of those if you make em.  I was planning on taking my fairings off for a while when I get another F next spring so I want some.

So there's at least one for you!

The case guards are yet to be even prototyped. But they will not be made out of tubing. Why ... it will not fit under an F's fairing ... The thing will be all bent flat bar ... I am hoping to get thick like 3/8th inch flat bar. Frame sliders will be removable and swappable ... AKA ... generic delrin rods in 5 inch diameter ... its all gonna have to be made up and I'll put pics up as I get them done. But the first 2 pics will be about their overall contour. Straight on instead of the bend like elephant ears ... why ... if you got 2 pointers ... the elephant bend will look a little goofy ... besides what you wanna protect is that round part that seems to be left open a bit ... I will put a fat steel bar right over it and put a ugly ass slider right there ... Yea cant beat the ugly off it with a stick ...
Cool.

aww man, ugly works with the F people, but what about us E'ers?...
I guess we're on our own then, sigh,  :( there go my hopes crushed again....
Title: Fit an E
Post by: The Buddha on December 14, 2005, 08:15:27 PM
It will fit an E as well ... heck it will look a lot less ugly than the tube ones I think. But its each persons eye I guess ... slap on frame sliders and it will add a new dimension of ugly and visibility ...
Cool.

are you going to do a prototype before you take offical orders?
Title: Cardboard
Post by: The Buddha on December 15, 2005, 04:44:14 AM
I will make one in cardboard. The place I am making it in will not do 1-2 ... laser cutting does have its pitfalls. I will pretty much guarantee a fit though, and it will look mostly like the carbboard item. I might make that cardboard one around a week from now, and make the case guards a week after that.
I believe $60 for 2 pointers, $80 for 3 and $10 for sliders. And no you cannot install the sliders only, they bolt to the guards ... which is why we dont have a decent slider available on the market.
Cool.

Seriously - I'd be interested in the three-pointers.  Let me know if you want me to do any F measuring.

Ooh, I'd be very interested, too.
I was just bitching about sliders in another thread.

3 pointer and sliders for me please. Does that mean that we will have to drill/cut the fairings to fit the slider, and if so where are you planning the puck/slider to come through????
