Title: 14 tooth sprocket chain length
Post by: JDM74 on December 18, 2005, 05:29:03 PM
I just got a 14 tooth sprocket  and I plan on getting a new chain also.  Rear sprocket will be the stock size.  What length chain do I need?  I think stock is 110 links so I was thinking 109 to maintain the same range of adjustability with the chain tighteners.  I did a search and didn't find what I needed.

Can anybody help?

110 is stock length. It will be shorter with a 14T front, so just buy a 110 and cut it to length.

I know I could do that but since you can order a lot of chains whatever length you want, I thought I could save myself the trouble of having to find and then buy a chain break.  I figured with all the people on here with smaller front sprockets they could tell me what length I need.  Guess I am going to have to buy a break.  :(

Understand.
If I had a motor in a frame I could measure it for you.
I use a dremel or an angle grinder to shorten chains.

14 tooth? man your gonna destroy that new chain so fast.... your better off to go with a 15t front and a 42t rear or somthing like that. you get the same effect minus the chain wear, but I guess its alittle late for that now...
