V-Strom was the right bike to take yesterday.
17 degrees when I left home in the dark. Love that windscreen. At 17 degrees I have no complaints.
Got stuck at work until 8pm since the second shift supervisor
got stuck in traffic for over 3 hours.
It's a nice feeling to go out in the dark and just hit that starter button and the V-Strom comes to life always on the first try.
Turn on the heated handgrips and into the Holland Tunnel.
Pickup the Turnpike by the Meadowlands and it's 100mph indicated until Route 80. 85 indicated on route 80 until Garden State Parkway.
Ok by default I had to take in the KLR250 today.
No hand guards or heated grips but I had solar heating.
Left the house at 7:30 am. Had to kick start it 12 times before it came to life. Normal is 2-3. It was 25 degrees and the bike has been standing for two weeks.
Bike is a pisser. It puts me in a different state of mind. Much more relaxed commute. No pressure to blow away the BMWs. No pressure to pass those SUVs going 90 mph. On the GS and the V-Strom it's "You passing who"? On the KLR it's "Go ahead pass me, who cares"?
The KLR is so nimble. You don't have to look on the ground when you ride the streets of NYC. With the long and soft suspension it's like who cares that there is a manhole or pothole ahead.
Slow at work today. To relieve the stress of yesterday going to head to Chinatown for some Thai food and over to Spring Street for some "Hot Apple Cider with Apple Jack Brandy."
Yea I'm so jealous ... you have 3 bikes that run ... Till last night I didn't even have 1 ... OK yea I have 7 bikes but not one was running ...

The GS is ill. Still have the drifting problem.
I had the valve done at Suzuki. The guys were bored since they
had not much to do, so they cleaned the engine and gave the bike
the once over. I was run off by a BMW a few years ago and the handlebars were just a hair off. The forks had to be loosened up and realingned. I have a feeling that they might have done that on their own and something went off. Can't figure what. I have to give them a call.

Man, it was so freaking cold!
The first day of the strike, I went out with my regular (spring/fall) gloves and I nearly forze my hands off (northern Queens to Chinatown)! The next two days I wore latex gloves (no breathability, lol) and glove liners underneath my gloves.
It was nice to receive bewildered looks from other motorists.
Today is pretty warm and if anything, the strike has led me to think that riding in the winter isn't that bad at all.
The key to winter riding is to block the wind out.
NYC is pretty warm. Where I am in Northern Jersey it's 8-10 degrees cooler. Whe I leave the house it's 20 degrees, the sun comes out and it's 25 degrees, by the time i hit NYC 45 minutes later it's 32 degrees. Hard to know what to wear.
Get yourself a pair of Olympia Ultima I golves and pair of silk golve liners.
Good for late Fall and Winter.
Have mine for 3 years and good as new.
