Hi guys / girls I Have been just a looker for a few months now and have just bought a gs500 (for christmas) and decided to finally post something.

I bought a 2001 gs500 with 11000 km for $1650.

I have been driving a dirt bike for 2 years now very much enjoy motorcycleing. The GS seems to so far be a very nice bike. I have driven it a few times around the block and it is very comfortable and fast compared to what I am used to.

The roads are mostly snow here and is about -5 c here so riding in the winter is mostly out of the question but hopfully in the spring I will have lots of fun on this bike.

Ohh here are some pics

Now shorten those signal stalks and remove that fender. :)

nice.
I Have never seen a cleaner GS.
post back pics in a month, let us see how you keep it up!

Look up 'Progeressive springs', 'ignition advancer', 'gsf600 rear shock', '15T front sprocket' and 'seshadri_srinath jets'.

That ought to cover the 1st month worth of questions.

Forgive me I is drunk.

Agree with Phil -- almost too clean a bike.  Great price, makes me a bit sad that mine might be worth the same. :(  Some day, but not today.  She looks like this, minus the summer ambiance:

Won't be long -- Spring is just over 80 days away for both of us...

Odd you should say this becuase about 3 hours ago I removed a chunk of oil/dirt build up from my ratbike and the starter fell off.

Strange how U.S. colours are different than the rest of the world for the same year.  My Metalic Abyss Blue is not what you've got.  Yours is significantly lighter -- more like Ocean Blue.  :dunno:

Our ratbikes are different. THEY *need* the dirt, bubblegum, string, twist ties, etc. to hold them together!

Oh...and my ratbike has a hairband, too! :P

My 250 had the tailight grounded using the wire cage that holds corks in champange bottles.

I have a tendency to use paperclips for grounds and the occasional eleventybillion amp fuse.  I have 6" long, 1" bolts welded thread-first to 2" flat-iron for rear-sets and pegs.  My dash is two holes drilled in my upper for a nuetral and oil light.  My 525 chain has 6 links of 530 welded to it.  I have parts from 6 major motorcycle manufacturers bolted to her, and one standard equipment ford part welded to it (until I get around to making a popper mount for my lights).  I have metric and standard thread/head bolts all over it...it will be impossible to do any major work without 2 complete tool kits.  There's also a nest in it, but I'm sure it's uninhabited...I believe I'll remove it this evening.
