Western Massachusetts???
I'd like to go for long rides as soon as spring gets here. :P
Wachussett mountain is a good ride. Really any of those cow paths winding through western mass can be fun to ride.
Here are a couple of sites to explore:
- Massachusetts Motorcycle Roads (http://www.motorcycleroads.us/ma.html). Offers route maps.
- Motorcycle Rides in America (http://www.motorcycleridesinamerica.com/rides_massachusetts.htm). Offers some complementary ideas. [/list:u]Looks like you've got a lot of good riding in your future, hopefully close to home. For other info, try an Internet search with the keywords Motorcycle Rides Massachusetts.
What do you consider long rides?
Not very long: take 2 west from where it meets 91 (the Mohawk Trail)...go out to N. Adams. Very scenic.
A bit longer: do the same thing, but instead of coming back, turn north up route 7 to Bennington, then take 9 east to Brattleboro (drops you right back at 91 in VT).
Or, turn south down 7 down to Stockbridge, then 20 east back.
If you've really got all day...head up to Lincoln, NH and take 112 across to Conway (the Kancamagus).
I find I head out route 2 a lot, mostly because it's a good few hours out west and back, there are very few traffic lights, once you get west of Orange (or thereabouts) it's not at all straight, and you can pretty much just keep going until you hit Albany without much fuss.

Anything that will keep me away from going to work!
Thankz for the info guys! I'm gonna have some great fun. I even started her up about an hour ago... Couldn't ride, but still needed to hear her purr and smell the exhaust. ;)
I'm debating whether or not to take mine out this afternoon. Still chilly, but the roads are dry and I'm on vacation.
