Title: collarbone update-9 weeks
Post by: pantablo on December 28, 2005, 08:53:24 PM
went to the doc today and its healing up really well! whew...

although he said no contact sports yet and I have to be careful on the bike/moto. He doesnt recommend riding yet but as long as it doesnt hurt I will be fine. He did say though that if I take one good hit to the shoulder not only could I rebreak it but the bones will likely come through the skin. hmm. So IF I ride it'll have to be at the back taking it easy. I think I can do that, yeah.

this why I liked keeping a cruiser around for a long time.  When injured, a chushy, soft and easy ride around some scenic back-roads was always nice and it got my riding fix...mainly, though, it prevented me from injuring myself further.  A couple years ago I got it good from a meandering field lark and and bruised a bunch of my inards up.  I was very thankful to have my easy riding maxim at the time.

Be careful Pablo! I disregarded my docs advice when I broke mine a few years ago and started playing soccer 3 months or so after I broke it - got hit hard, and rebroke it. I have a dime sized chip in the bone now from the second break.

I'm glad to hear you're healing up well.    If you can't take it easy, don't ride!  :P

Taking a long time to heal?  I thought you'd be 100% before this  :o

Did you see the pic of his x-ray from a few weeks ago. It looked terrifyingly horrid to me (good thing I'm not a doc), but his doc said it was ok....  :?

Odd, that.  Soccer is not a contact sport.  Maybe he meant to warn you against a sport that WASN'T designed for girls and communists?

My eyes just rolled so hard that BOTH of my contacts fell out and I kind of gagged a little.

Warn me next time you write something so mis-informed.

Glad to hear it's healing well...  I think I'd fight the urge to ride a little longer... ;)

Nah.  I did play football in college, however.  And I was a wrestler in high school.  And you guys can feed me as much crap as you want about soccer but I ain't buyin' it.  I'd sooner believe that there are wild herds of unicorn living in Canada.
