I'd ask elsewhere but I doubt this is actualy bike specific...
Anyway, when I turn the bars to the right, the cable synches up and revs the motor. How do I fix this? I'm about to tap a heavy spring onto the throttle cam to keep it from happening...
You need to reroute your throttle cables so that there aren't very many bends in them, or if there is a single sharp bend in it. When you turn the bars to the right it pulls the cables into a position where they are probably crushed by the tank.
I had this same problem when I put the new lower bars on my bike. You'll just have to find a new place to route them.
okay, there is also the possibility, especially if you swapped bars or moved things around that you can get a little extra slack by adjusting the little tension nut right after the trhottle. if you look where your throttle cable comes into the throttle body there should be a little threaded metal piece that has two small nuts (8mm i think) that you can loosed and give yourself a little slack. IF the bike was here I'd snap a pic.

i agree with jake. i HATE slack in my throttle so i adjusted it. got all the slack out but then i had the same problem as u describe. u have to find the middle ground where u can get most of the slack out without the cable being to tight. it took me awhile to get it set right.
I tinkered with it for a bit without luck. I'm going to rip the tank off and try rerouting in a while.
That'll give me a chance to shoot her without the tank on...
I don't think you need to take the tank off. I guess it is proberbly the wrong side of the handle bar or wrong side of the headlight bracket.
this is on the ratbike. it's a backbone frame, not a twin spar like the GS. The tank has to come off to get to the cables and to do any rerouting.

I had to take my tank off to do rerouting. I've got it where it works now, going out the left side of the frame (instead of the right) and then behind the headlight to their final connecting points on the bars. However, I'm still bleading the brake system (hard to do without a lever), so the distance the right hand assembly will move might change all that.
But yeah, try going out the left side and then behind the headlight.

Sometimes it's more than that though. Like on mine, I took out somewhere in the viciinity of two inches of height on my handlebars. That's a bit more than the adjusters can handle. He has clipons on his ratbike, which are notably lower than the bars it was originally designed for.

Maybe if you've got the tools/skills you can cut off one end of the throttle cable, shorten it up a few inches, and put the little ball back on there.
It can only be caused by the outer cable being moved, which in turn is pulling on the inner cable and having the effect of moving the carb`slides. You need to find a nice smooth route for the cable with no tight turns and is not affected by movement of the headstock. Adjusting or altering the length of the inner cable in relation to the outer will have no real effect and wont compensate for the fault. There should always be a small amount of freeplay in the twistgrip otherwise it can effect the idle speed. If you havent altered anything since you got the bike it could be that the cable is is seizing up inside or has a tight spot in which case it needs lubricating or replacing. Same thing happened to my choke cable.

I kinda got it straightened out with a little rerouting, but I need a different cable here. This one just isn't sleeved corretly.
