Something really pisses me off. On some forums that I visit I occasionally make a thoughtful and important comment or advice. What makes me crazy is when right after a board royal, heavy user, whatever paraphrases what I say. Then the members all give said beloved user credit for such original and important advice
It makes me f-ing crazy! :x Seriously, it's like`"what am I chopped liver?" Damn that makes me nuts. It's a peev more than anything, but nonetheless annoying as all hell. This happened last night on a local board I visit -I gave a guy who's wife was in an accident last yearand is now being sued some reasonable and valuable advice. Wonder dude literally paraphrased what I said, sans the detail, then everyone lines up to felatiate him for his vast knowledge :sigh: Which is another peev in itself, but that's another rant alltogether. Oh well Rant: off
What really bothers me about forums is that some people give more credence to some people than others.
I can say something important and people don't really take it heart until it is "confirmed" by somebody with a more long standing history on the board.
Happens all the time. You know what I mean?

no
Same thing happens to me, but with my boss (who happens to be the President of my company).
I've been telling him for the past three years that we should do X, Y, Z, and a few days ago, he said, "You know, we should do X, Y, Z" as if it were some brilliant, original idea that he'd just made up. :x
I said...uh...yeah...what a great idea.
Then I went home and banged my head against the wall, and my bf and I had a good laugh (since I've been telling HIM every time I've suggested MY brilliant idea to the boss)!
I'm not glad it happens to you, john, but I'm glad it doesn't happen just to women. ;)

No I don't. i need confirmation from a more reliable source before I can agree

Ok. I've been on the board for three months longer than Jake D, and I can confirm what he says!

No, no, no. That was the boss' ORIGINAL idea, and it wouldn't and didn't work! I'm STILL trying to get him to do X, Y, Z, even AFTER *HE* came up with the brilliant idea... Implementing is another story.. :P

We got it...just cuz we haven't been around as long as john doesn't mean we're DUMB!
Jake D, your wit is sharp like spear and your rhetoric is strong like pony. :P
I agree with John though, many forums (even this one at times), there are sometimes undertones of inequality between members. Just shrug it off, I guess. :dunno:

I would just quote what they said and write, "exactly what I said x posts up. scroll up! :nana: "
Guilty.

What is the big deal with all the forum posting issues lately? Computers are just a passing fad. Just go ride.
