hey you look like as big a dork as I do on a bike...
Congrats on the bike and no...your next one will likely be a bit bigger (in multiple aspects).
that is a wonderful story. Thanks for sharing your obvious joy. its a joy many of us felt our first day. You'll find yourself repeatedly going back to the parking lot just to sneak a peek at it, I'm sure. Congratulations!

I see a new title!
ps-I have to say, Davipu did one hell of a paint job. Looks damn good.

..or go to sit on it just because...:dunno:...I still like to go sit on my bikes just to feel them under me and, since the full exhaust got put on the TL, I go fire it up just to hear her scream. Happens with the EX, too. Neighbors hate that, though...
Ditto the beautiful bike comment.
What are your plans for "additions" to her? ;)
I can definitely relate.

Been out twice today. :)

No big plans right now. RG did a good job of sorting out the usual stuff. I've been thinking of reflective tape on the rims, but that's about it. Maybe progressive springs eventually if I have a problem with the suspension.

tomorrow you'll go out at least that many times just to start it for kicks...
Congrats on grajimicating from nood to noob status!!!
Bwahaha! With any luck, you'll drop yours more than I drop mine. :P
Happy Wonderful start to your New Biking Year!!!!!
Congrats man... the first rides are always the best. the ones in the rain... not so much.
i agree with the beatiful bike comment... i really like how clean it is... i only hope i can return mine to that condition.
my last rebuild project ended rather dissapointing (it was totalled the day i finished the last piece... by no fault of my own... and i was fully reimbersed for the bike)
Enjoy it and just try not to drop it again... (it really sucks when you look at it and find all your new "mistakes")
I also highly recommend the MSF Course... it saved my life the day my Honda was totalled.
Yay! I'm really glad you got your bike finally! I was talking to Dave before it got painted and he told me the color it was going to be. Needless to say, I laughed really hard when he told me it ways baby blue. I really wanted to see the look on your face when he revealed it's sky blueness to you.
Don't feel too bad about dropping your bike. I dropped my '92 the first time I pulled it out of the garage. I dropped the '04 the first day I had it too. The centerstand takes some getting used to.
Those case guards are pretty heavy duty, too. They'll hold up to a LOT more than dropping. I look forward to seeing your progress on this thing! :)

Heh. Wasn't quite what I was expescting, but I guess that's the paint RG bought, and it's kinda growing on me. It's my bike, and my bike will always be the prettiest. :)

That make three of us!
Congrats on the new bike! May you have MANY joyful and safe riding days uninterupted by rain. :thumb:
Wooohoo! Congrats man! So does that make me the only one in the running for most valuable nood for '06?
Good deal! Glad you got a bike and that you enjoy it! w00t. :thumb:
Very nice. :thumb:
I like Dave's paint job. Definately sets it apart from 98% of the GS's out there.
Now just don't kill yourself on that blazingly fast road burner you have there.
Many, many, happy miles on "Blue Monday" to 'ya. :)
congrats!
Dude... How friggen tall are you?!? :o
Now... Let's go ride ya' bastard! Where's BlueBellyLint? We have a Seattle GS gang!
wow congrats on your bike.....
QuotePedestrians looked at me in awe
its because of the color  ..i know from personal experience. ....
what the hell is dave thinking painting it with that color? is that a request from you?
Quote from: RVertigoDude... How friggen tall are you?!? :o
6'4"
Quote from: my_celica_is_jealouswhat the hell is dave thinking painting it with that color? is that a request from you?
Dave wasn't thinking. I asked RG for blue, and she bought the paint and Dave applied it. I was thinking more lke '97 blue, but I didn't specify, andy baby blue is a shade of blue. :)
cool story man... congrats :thumb:
and for what its worth... I had trouble starting mine at first too, untill I figured out exactly how she wanted to be started... then it was no problem.

Yeah, I figured it was mostly a matter of getting to know her, so I'm not worried.

+1 (added exclamation points), Good story, too.
congrats on the bike, ill tell someone my adress if they want to give me a bike too.
Ok, it wasn't so much a present. Somewhere in there, I handed RG a hefty envelope full of cash. I must have left that part out of hte story.
Amazing story. I'm so jealous you guys all live so close to one another.
Keep your head up!! and always remember to put the kickstand down before getting off!..just ask Kerry about that one.
Wonderful write-up. Thanks for sharing! And the bike looks damn cool.. much better than it sounds. If someone told me that they owned a baby blue GS, I probably wouldn't believe them. But I really must admit that the bike looks great in the pictures.
Be safe and enjoy!
How big are davipu and RG in real life?
I picture them both being really little.

RG is really little. She's not quite as short as my wife, but she's down there. Dave is medium-tall. :)
RG is little.. like my size, which always made me happy, because it meant that I'd be able to ride a GS with a little modification, cuz I'm a short mofo. I'm 5'3, and I think I remember her saying she was slightly shorter than me. No idea on Davipu
Cool story, first time I got my gs every straight line I saw I would hammer the throttle I couldn't believe how fast it was. My bike before was a honda cg125 so it was a big jump in power!!!
TLDR
grats on your new bike!
Congrats, and what a great story. I like the color and the "shark fin" shaped design on the tank. Enjoy!
Hey Aaron,
Your bike has progressives installed.
I was asked to let you know.
I disagree with "the first ride is the best one" comment. Frankly, I was scared as hell my first ride, granted it was in fairly heavy traffic. For me, it only got better for about 500 miles. Also, I can relate to the "damn bikes are heavy" sentiment. The first time I tried to put the GS on the center stand it came down left (toward me), but I was able to force it back upright using the bars thanks to my brute strength. The only thing that touched the ground was the left peg.
Have fun though, it only gets easier and more fun from here on out. Just don't push your limits too soon.
