my friend has the yellow covers on his red 04 R1. look pretty good, if not a bit squidly.
at least the yellow has a history on european cages...tinted, red, blue all look squidly.
so what is this... colored scotch tape?
I've seen a lot of those and I got to say, unless you're looking at resale value or something, forget it...the tinted ones, at least. Not only are they not legal, they screw with your lighting.
...yes I used to have one...at the same time I thought a 54" wing and poly-siding looked good on my RX-7...
its a hard(?) plastic cover, like a lens protector, but colored.
I believe it's a tough vinyl transparent cover that is adhesive (precut).
I wanted to know how well it conforms to the headlight's curves. I've seen some of the clear tank protectors, and they look like crap because the tanks are too curved.
the ones on my friends R1 look REALLY good. They fit exceptionally well. Took me a second look before I realized they were just a cover and not a replacement lens.

That looks sweet!
I'm thinking of getting the yellow headlight covers, and blue for my stock screen (since I can't find any good pictures from the mfrs)
I'll bite. Do they color the headlight beam at all? Seems like it would be hard to avoid making a translucent colored film that didn't, and it doesn't seem like such a good idea from a safety/legality standpoint.
colors the light. my friend doesnt ride at night. hell, he barely rides if its colder than 70F or hotter than 80F.....
I was originally considering getting yellow bulbs, but with these on, the beam of light would be yellow AND would look cool when parked.
The only difference would be that the film will actually block some of the light coming out. Getting a true yellow bulb will produce the same lumens output (hopefully)
Yellow tinted lenses over a white bulb is actually rather common (outside of the US) and it's totally legal in all 50 states in the US... Yellow that is... Not the blue, smoke, or all the other silly stuff.
AND... Yellow light actually helps cut some of the glare from a rain covered road... Unlike blue light, which actually makes it worse.
so then are they legal or not?
I just installed a yellow tinted bulb two weeks ago. IT IS AWESOME!!! Mine are highly ILLEGAL tho...
The stock bulb specs are as follows:
Low beam = 55w
High beam = 60 or 65w (can't remember)
THe bulb I put in has the yellow tint:
Low beam = 90w
High beam = 110w
Doesn't your battery go flat with such high wattage globes?
My cousin put high wattage bulbs in his Honda and it actaully reduced his engines power outputs. Possibly due to a weak spark?
dude u got to post a pick
I've had no problems with the battery being charged.
