Ahhh the joys of holidays, I've been tinkering with the bike again
I replaced the rear indicators (the front will be done when the shop gets them in). I gave the fender a bit more of a trim and replaced the tail light.
The tail light is a generic tail/stop/number plate light for a trailer. To mount it I made the bracket out of aluminium sheet I had here at home.
The cost of the tail light would be about $20 all up.

not half bad. does ausieland require signal lights? if not I'd seek any means necessary to hack them off.
I would have put two in there side by side. At least paint the aluminum black so it blends in with the bodywork better.
Thats not a bad idea. or a bad job pulling it off... it looks great
yeah i like it. One suggestion though would be if you could actually mount the turn signals beside the round tail light. I think that might look good and get rid of the turn signals sticking out. Then again i don't know the laws there, I know here in VA i don't think that idea would pass inspection.

OR I've seen half-crescent shaped running lights that could be used...mount on either side of the round tail light. That'd look pretty slick.

I like it.. I was thinking two of those lights side by side could be wired up as brakelights AND as turnsignals... but I like the idea of the crescent shaped turn signals too... all depends on local laws though!
I was originally going to put twin lights in, but the lights I got are slightly to wide side by side to fit in the gap. So one light it is.
I think painting the bracket black might be a better look than the silver. But it's going to stay as it is for the time being, cause I can't be bothered pulling it apart again at the moment.
I'm happy with the indicators where they are, at least they don't stick out as much as the originals.
Good job. I personally like the look of the R1 tail light on the GS. I picked up a R1 tail light for $10 and it bolts right on. Even has the same bulbs.
I like it. It has that utilitarian, easy-to-fix, I-can-find-parts-anywhere look to it. Does the aluminum reflect the red light to make it look larger and brighter? Kinda reminds me of a cyclops or a Kyron's Zentradi command pod from Robotech.
After the work I put into light conversion, I still wasn't 100% happy with it.
Today I made a twin light conversion, which I will post pics of when the batteries for the camera are charged.
The twin lights look a lot better. :thumb:
yeah I think if you used two lights about teh same size it'd look a lot better. There's too much "extra" room on your plate there.

BTW the lights are about 7mm smaller in diameter.
that looks about 4 gazillion times better.

+1.. I really like it!
Lovin it! :thumb:
hey man nice setup you got there. I really dig the tail and the fenderectomy. I think I will do a fenderectomy very soon I have read the directions and it seems pretty easy. Basically you just cut it off it doesnt seem like you even need directions. Just cut it of to whatever size you want it. Your tail looks very nice. I have been looking into doing something with my tail also. I saw some tails on ebay that were like 80$ which is kinda pricey but it was a tail with turn signals integrated into them. did you cut your signals or get completely new ones. They look much better than the lanky stock ones. I will also look into a r1 tail I think the tail will be my first mod though along with the fenderectomy. the gs looks nice as is but I think the tail can be cheaply redon to make it look a lot better. Anyone have integrated tail/ signals and wish to share pics. nice job man.
Thanks for the comments, I'm really happy with it now.
The indicators are after market ones.
:thumb:
Why not get a tail light integrator and do away with the signal lights? It'll clean it up a great deal.
Nah I'm not a great fan of those. I still like to have the indicators sticking out the side.
oh if you dig it more power to you. :thumb: The tail looks great!
The two tail lights looks better than the one...
And... Yer bum is lookin' pretty UBER.
